Grampa's Birthday!

Let us begin with the  🐻SNUGGLE Bears. Everyone was excited!

What a grand time we had. The kids came over Saturday afternoon. They brought dinner and they brought lots of fun, positive energy and spirit. We visited some. Snuggle bears used the castle last week. The kids used to have such fun with that and clown pants. Their princess days are over!

I usually keep the camera set on the sports function. When I use the flash on automatic, I keep forgetting that I am no longer able to take a quick photo. You'll forgive my photos, but it was a great record of our celebration.

Josephine showed me the gr. 9 art project she is working on. They have to choose a subject or object that means something to them. She chose her sister! It looks fabulous, and is due on Tuesday.

Playtime

They went outside with Momma to take some more photos. It was supposed to be a wet day Sunday, and the project is nearly done.

Josephine was really getting into it.

Dinner

Caitlin brought her meatloaf, and dessert. JL cooked dinner for us, adding potatoes, and roasted carrots. They brought everything, and did the dishes. It was a lovely treat.

We all got a little silly. It was much fun, and just what gramma and grampa needed. You'll forgive the quantity of photos, we needed to laugh here. There has been a bit of anxiety around our health.

Open up for the airplane! Such giggles and acting. Josee turns 14 Dec. 9th!

Grampa found the birthday hat. I'd forgotten about it!

Dessert

It took a bit of effort to light all the candles, then he had trouble putting them out! There were about 24 candles (not 72!), and Caitlin added candles to her phone's grocery list.

He didn't want to blow all over it. There was wax flying as it was! First, he tried the candle snuffer, then an envelope. What could go wrong with that?!

Presents

I gave him a skull shaver! He shaves his head every few mornings. This might be fun for those sorts of slow  mornings. It popped up when I was searching for Gaelyn Skull Valley location at her new digs.

He had to go out to the car to get this gift! Two light-up bears. We shall determine a location. I will put them out now that we've had his birthday and Remembrance Day.

We watched Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. It has just been released on AppleTV, which the kids have – as they don't have cable. We didn't finish it. It was a long day.

 Sunday morning

Snuggle bears admired grampa's cards.

JL did such a great job of packing, he packed Caitlin's boots!

Josephine took off for the woods. JL went looking for her.

Apparently, in a senior's moment, Josee thought she run out to find Cinnamon. She only had socks on, and didn't want to take time to put on her shoes. She'd forgotten that she'd worn boots! We had a good laugh about that, too!

They headed home for chores and homework. Another week begins, band practice, Girl Guides, fun clubs at school.

It's been a busy weekend!

Retirement isn't for chumps!

What a fun time! We were celebrating a belated birthday for Izzy, as well as Mother's Day. I sent grampa out to buy 6 helium balloons. My camera battery died, so my SIL took a photo for me!

They treated us! How fun!

My Mother's Day gift from the kids was a new Wood Duck nesting box! Isn't it wonderful? Wood duck box #3!

We have three pairs of Wood ducks, and I've counted three more males, if not more.  They might be too close together, the boxes, but I'm limited on trees I can reach. We shall see. Daisy helped, although she was more moral support looking for a chipmunk. You can see her in this fuzzy photo. My camera lens is not autofocusing, and I was cold and tired at this point. But this is box #1. Then two and three.

The kids helped me reassemble JB's fountain. It was trying to straighten it, and it tipped over, broke the support. I had to jury rig it.

I'm having issues with Trailcam #3, as well. I broke the stand that holds it. My first Moultrie camera was terrific. The Wildgame brand (#2) had better bells and whistles, a large window to help aim it. This one isn't as great. I know we had a momma bear and cubs go by, they left the evidence.

Sunday, May 15th, we spotted a pair of bucks. They look frowsy, as they lose their winter coats. I'd love to go brush them!

Monday, May 16th, I spotted a cardinal! I haven't seen one in a year or more.
