We are shocked by the tragic airport incident at La Guardia. When the helicopter and jet plane collided (Jan., 2025), NTSB did an amazing presentation about who does what, the issues they will examine. If you are interested in the process. People, and media are jumping into the fray, with speculation. We have to wait. 900 flights a day...

The problem with investigating the incident is getting the experts there. The protocols include having many agencies with standing in the investigation. Canada is involved as they were a Canadian plane, Canadian crew, had Canadians on board, and it is a Canadian-built plane. It is a joint effort. With Newark having had an issue, and slow lines in airports, and the administration firing 400 FAA senior officials, the TSA head, and 3,000 air traffic controllers in Jan., 2025, policy choices have consequences.
Back to your regularly scheduled topic. Let the professionals do their jobs.
Lots of critters out and about.
Butch was back. I finally cleaned up and brought it indoors! Twice bitten, once shy! They are hungry. They do like to explore!
Butch on the deck📹, June, 2021.
Yes, I still have my lights. They'll be Easter lights now!
This pair are a hoot. Momma has snow on her head. The fawn has antler nubs, it must be a male.
We've had 6 hanging around.
The birds have been back, out singing in the snow and cold. Complaining, methinks. I wrote a story about Eddie and Eva, geese who seemed to have flown north too early!
I told many stories about Eddie and Eva (e.g., SATURDAY, APRIL 4, 2009 "It's your fault", a story about a snowy day!
) This was a pair who returned all 4 years we lived there year-round. (April 2006 - September 2010). They returned with offspring and had happy times.
Some bird nabbed lunch, March 2025. I've been throwing peanuts out for #75.
The frog pond was frozen. Now it is frozen again. March 20, 2025:
Good Bunny Labbit is hopping about!
Butch is on clean up duty! In a snowstorm...

The critters need to eat. Scrounging must be hard.
So sad about the plane accident. And yes, the news is all over it, without real knowledge. Loved seeing your critters...you have such a great little zoo there! Or maybe a farm...
I like your Easter lights a lot! And that's a great photo of Butch and one of the cats (can't tell which!) The plane crash is tragic. I'm amazed not more were killed -- it looked frightening.
It will soon be time to hear the peepers! They have been recorded at the Reserve where I go. I just haven't been there this week.
We have no ponds near us.
I saw the plane crash on the news last night, so sad :(. You had a pair of geese return for 4 years, that's amazing.
I think all the birds should be complaining. There is a cold wind out there today.
Eddie and Eva, a delightful story, so true. The crash, tragic, and I cannot imagine the pilots horror as it happened.
I think it's always better to let an expert investigate an incident and report the facts than to try and second guess.
We have tracks, galore, as the snow is now so crusted that even the turkeys can walk on top. Squirrels are dancing everywhere. We are seeing the suet balls diminish at a great rate, since the last snow/rain dump, as it is a sure source of food when a lot is still frozen in.
That is such an unusual plane accident. I read one article that said the fire trucks had just earlier been alerted to a United plane that had an odd smell in it and was being returned to the terminal. Too few workers in many places is probably the main cause. Some passengers said the pilots slamming on the brakes saved many lives.
Mr. Butch Raccoon looks very fluffy in the snow. I've wondererd about similar geese moving through Kansas City too soon, or too late. Love the movie "Fly Away Home." Linda in Kansas
Each critter tells a story. The deer tells us that Mamma wants the youngster to get lost.
Hello,
The plane crash was tragic! Love all your critters, it has been a cold winter here, I am sure they are all hungry. Take care, enjoy your day!
