It is a snowy day

 It's been cold. I know you know. We're in Canada, and it is winter! I knew what I'd be up to on Wednesday! About 7 cm snow fell. If it is going to cold, it might as well be pristine white. For now. 

You can see the Labbit tracks on the sidewalk! She is very speedy and tends to slip by the trailcam.

I ventured out and spotted deermouse tracks. (I think!) The snow was falling at bedtime. 

I've spent more time watching critters from the front window.  There are two black ones. They seem to have signed a peace treaty. 

I've noticed that the mourning doves aren't bothered by the blue jays. The blue jays have such a rep for being bullies. 

This is who I've been watching as well! She bears watching. 

I settled down to listen to something, I forget what, and took out my sketching tools. It's been a minute since I did so. 

Joseph Brian was settled in to watch Olympic curling on Gem. It froze. Too many watchers, I believe. There were complaints online. He gave up. It was fun while it lasted! 

They have a keen nose for food!

 

 In the meantime, I spotted the turkey trio. It's early for mating season. I was fascinated! They are all males, you can tell by their 'beards' and they were getting into it.

 

Spring is here!

My friend, Natrice, lives in Timmins. She posted a lovely photo which inspired me. I did a sketch. They had snow yesterday. What a winter!

On our trip out to lunch last week; tapping and syrup season is nearly done.

The temperature inversion brought fog. It was quite something.

You can see the deer in the edge of the wetland.

The candytuft is being trimmed by our deer. Oh well.

🇺🇸 NOAA has had cuts to staff. 

NOAA relies on 🛰 satellites, which Musk wants to take over. What could go wrong?!

That was a storm, March 16th! About 25 mm (1")

🌪Our Canadian meteorologist was explaining how this impacts Canadians. Fifteen years ago, they could predict tornados 10 minutes ahead. Now, they are up to 46 minutes warning. A lot of our weather comes from the south, i.e., Colorado Low, which we get frequently. 

NOAA, for example, is not releasing weather balloons in remote areas with real time data. Predictability and accuracy relies on sustained data. Future forecasts will be less accurate.

Weather is evolving, and will sites be maintained and updated?

You'll recall my last (2nd) paint and sip: Paint Party Friday.
I added some details. Probably overdid it, but it was fun! My 2 grandies in the boat, a fire, a butterfly and castle.

I prefer the sharpies and small markers for the details.



My first effort: I did some painting! I did some snow painting...Paint Party Friday: wait'll you see!

Then some sketching. The first is from a blog buddy's photo (found it), the second the waiting room from yesterday's post, trip #50 into the city for medical issues.

Paint Party Friday gives me good motivation to play with shapes, light, saturation and colour.
I'm no artist, I just relax with my photography and sketching.

Paint Party Friday – did I ever have fun!

I was at a client's house last April, and began sketching whilst sitting with her. She was in a coma and died that month. We know that they can hear us, and I try to be relaxed. It is relaxing, drawing, and I was inspired back then by my blog buddy, Christine.

New drawing, I popped an old drawing into the
picture frame! 

At my latest client's house, I decided that their figure was a fun item to draw (see below).

Then, I couldn't figure out what to put in the picture frame when I decided to try to pop in a previous drawing! Next, I got crazy with Graphic Converter! My scanner doesn't pick up all of the colours. I know that the professional artists use an expensive Mac drawing program, but Graphic Converter has been useful while I was teaching.

From January!

Here is the inspiration, a lovely figurine. My client and I do a bit of a Life Review, just a couple of questions each visit so as not to tire his diminishing voice, as I sit with him for several hours.

Then we went back to watching Women's World curling and I began to sketch. He is such a lovely man. He was very complimentary about my drawing, even though his dear wife, in her time, used to do fabulous folk art on chairs, and was very good! My late Mom would have said he is "such a pet!" Both a delightful couple!
