Walkies with Cinnamon

But first, the kids went out and down to the Ottawa River Remic Rapids. The rocks are quite famous. John Ceprano has been balancing them for 40 years! Sunday was Caitlin's birthday. We had celebrated July 26th!

Cinnamon Walkies

I thought that he'd lost interest in them. Maybe with the bugs much lessened... We went out to the back 40, then the dock, and the frog pond trailcam, and then our 3rd lot.

First we walked along the path to Barry's spot. Behind the buck is the path down to the viewing point.

Cinn roared along with me and climbed Barry's fallen Aspen trees. It was somewhat buggy, and I hustled to exchange the SD Cards.

I'd set the camera to 'photos,' which is totally inadequate for coyotes!

Lot #3
I haven't been down here since the July 1st storm. I couldn't bear to look yet. I was ready.
You can see the frog pond on the right. The pond is draining into the wetland, and Cinnamon crossed on a small tree limb. I had flip flop on and was OK!

Ode to a pine tree
This tree the cats liked to climb. No more. The first photo is Aug. 2021, the next this past weekend.

I think the coyotes brought up a road kill deer to eat in the safety of the forest.

He roared up the driveway. We went and put our feet up.

I was trying to clean out some Gramma Camp things from the play area in the basement. I found some Crayola markers. Why not test them, and see if they still work? They do. I'd forgotten my alien, but Joe and Jordan reminded me!

A new week begins. We shall see what unfolds.

Ode to a pine tree

I took a forest walk. Another deer bed beside a small tree. Lots of tracks, including the coyote.

They are difficult to photograph, tracks in snow. This is coyote since you can draw an 'X' across the print. Cats don't have that attribute.

This is our Bobcat!

Here's a photo of it! Here is the video if you are so inclined.
June 5th, 2025

I saw this snow on the fallen tree on lot #3. It finally gave up the ghost last summer.

It is such a mess.

It is a tree I have enjoyed over the years we've lived here. Here is Oliver cat in the tree.

The flickers and pileated woodpeckers have been at it as it dies.

Busy backyard: sparrow, waxwing, doves!

An update on the white pine tree!

The chipping sparrows have fledged!

I've had a bit of a struggle: I found another poison ivy patch, right around the tree house, under one of our massive pine trees.

The yard is so busy. The pine tree nearest the house is amazing, as well as sheltering the poison ivy. As hubby says, a condo!
This tree has a tree house built into it. The girls are nearly too old for it, but Izzy still enjoys it. The cats like the tree house, as well. My faithful readers will remember the time the phoebe built a nest in it. Phoebe update - still going strong in the tree house What a time I had.

On the lowest limb, a mourning dove is nesting. It's mate goes up with food every so often. Just above her is a pair of chipping sparrows, doing the same thing. At the very top, I can hear baby cedar waxwings. Yes, I know it's a pine tree, but it seems to do the job!

Junior bear posed under said tree last week.

It's a fabulous yard! The nesting pine on the left. The girls' invisible friend, Nebuchadnezzar on the right, me doing the lawn.

Then there was the rainbow!
