Gramma Camp in a time of COVID – Week 20 Tuesday

That was a full day! My creche scene, finished one Christmas Eve when my kids were small, and they are 35, 37, and 41 this year! Isabelle set it up for me. I saw it in a women's magazine back in the day, the bodies are made from a cone of cardboard from a cereal box.

My new banner broke right off the dead stump. This is the BEFORE.

I moved it after my morning workout. It was so cold, hauling the metal ladder and drill in the wheelbarrow.

Pajama day for Jos! She didn't bother.
Isabelle had a regular day. She updated the number.

"So," says Josephine, "there is a tart missing. Who had one for breakfast?"
     Grampa confessed!
     "Oh, that's OK, then!"

I decided it was time to decorate the tree outdoors. Man, it was cold. About -8C., but frigid, despite the sunshine. It was a group effort. Grampa was in town buying cat food. Happy cat dance.

Ta da!

There was a break. They did 15 minutes worth of ball play! Clip4 from Jennifer Jilks on Vimeo.

Isabelle had a Girl Guides night. They were painting. We assembled all the materials. (There was a list!)

They watched a How To video, the First Nations artist was demonstrating the Norval Morriseau style. "In case there are technical difficulties or you can't join us for some other reason, the video that explains how to draw the fish can be found here.
Jazz hands!

Jos heard Iz talking, and ran to check on her. She was just having fun with her group on Google Meet.
We began to watch: Highway Through Hell. It's all about truck rescues on the Coquihalla (AKA The Coq), which is a highway my son, Jesse's FIL used to work on.

The cats were hunting. Watch for JB coming around the path, he didn't even notice them! cats and hats from Jennifer Jilks on Vimeo.

Coyote was back. Coyote Dec 13 from Jennifer Jilks on Vimeo.

It was chaos at the creche scene!

The creche is out. They keep stealing Shaun sheep!
This year, the creche scene is up. Finished one year (1992?) on Christmas Eve. They were lovingly made from directions in some women's magazine. You roll cereal box cardboard into a cone, using styrofoam balls, covered with recycled cloth diapers, as their heads. (By 1992 all the kids were toilet trained in my house!) I loved those cloth diapers. We sat on the floor folding them.

made a YouTube video of the story, Sadie was a bad little girl - onceuponatime. This morning, I had to send in the MASH helicopter (AKA hubby) as the shepherd was down again, his sheep somewhat mangled by a horrible beast.

Despite Father Christmas and a large cat on guard duty...

But later that day,
someone knocked one faithful shepherd flat.

This one took a header on the manger.
He needed stitches.
 It was chaos.
P1010002.JPGP1010003.JPGMary was slapped silly. Quick reflexes saved the day. A nearby Persian caught her. But what a scene.
After picked themselves up they wondered:
"Who could have been responsible for it all?
"Last year Max, the other cat, ate the last sheep.", said a king.

"Two years before it was Sable!" said a shepherd.

"Who me?", said Sady-the-Innocent, -new to the flock. She was sitting beside her friend Frosty, who might also need a quick cuff...

The angel's light shone down.
I will be a good girl, she promised.

And they all lived to celebrate another Christmas!
