Thanksgiving approaches!

I don't really feature my chair much. It's called the Hand of God. Well, that's what I call it. TZ had a question. I did not carve it!

We used to drive by it in Port Carling when caring for my late father in 2006-2007. After he died, I bought it.  It was their signature piece. It is carved from a teak tree piece. There is only a small cross piece that is attached.

A year ago, I stained it with Australian Timber Oil. It looks terrific.

Things are getting chilly. The leaves simply aren't as terrific this year.

I harvested another zucchini, while Cinnamon supervised. I think that makes 4! This is where I plan to put my plant next year. Non-mental note!

The shed looks sweet in the greens. Soon all this foliage will be done.

Cinnamon had a big day. He rested beside his toys.

Someone brought me home some flowers from the market.

🦃 We are preparing for Thanksgiving. In Canada it is next weekend, however, JL is traveling to the US for a conference. Last time he did that he brought COVID back with him. We are going to play it safe. There is a buzz in the house, as we do our preparations.

I sent Grampa in to find a turkey and cranberries. He was successful, although it took several shopping trips. Things are selling out, it appears.

We have two bar fridges (blame the previous homeowners!), and it just fits. There will be leftovers! Yippee.

A chair, Perth, and fall colours

It is that time of year. I added painting the teak chair to my To Do list. It took longer than I thought. It was lovely in the heat. I took a photo when I was nearly done. I used Australian Timber Oil, and I'll have to remember the colour choice, as I really liked it. Whatever was on there before has worn off.

Poor Joseph had to come get me, as we had a 2 p.m. appointment with Rona to work on our new vanity plans. I had to rush in, wash the brush, scrub my hands, and shower. It is peculiar how stressed we get with only one appointment in the day, when our days used to be full of work deadlines. More on this later.

Videos don't work well, but this is what I did:

Off we went, through Perth, to Carleton Place. Now, I saw a guy riding down the highway on a bicycle, holding a coffee in one hand, and not holding onto the handlebars. When we stopped at the crosswalk, another dude riding and holding a cup of coffee, riding across the crosswalk.

I love this home, you can see a little spot of colour in their planter on the left.

Every year I have to check for Ontario's hunting season. Deer season is Nov. 6 - 19. Turkey season is October for bow hunting, 2nd half for shotguns.

The colours continue to inspire.

It is harvest season!

The homes in Perth are looking wonderful.

This is progressing slowly: house with fire damage <= Jan. 2023
They have torn it down. I feel so badly for them. We are working on one bathroom vanity, I cannot imagine replacing a whole house.

We noticed this place for sale. It is huge. With a granny suite and its own entrance, 4 bedrooms, 4 baths, on 12 acres.

Painting the decks, back to school, trailcams

Is my back ever sore, but it is all repainted! I had to lay down a second coat, as recommended. I'll leave this here, in order to remember what I used. I was quite pleased with it.

One is supposed to not replace furniture for three hours, but I don't have that option. I moved it all to the side, painted the inner portion, and moved it back carefully, painted the outside section.

I managed to get the top off of the swing, preparation for winter, standing on the now dry deck. Progress.

I saved enough stain for my chair.

JB went for a walk, as he does several times a day. He said, "It's raining, but I have all this rain gear I ought to go for a walk!"

I found some invasive gypsy moth eggs on a conifer in the front yard.

Tired and colder in the cooler weather, they've hunkered down.

Our sumac aren't doing well. We've had a couple years of dry Augusts, but there are some leaves.
A little Isabella caterpillar...

Our granddaughters online classes begin today, Friday morning. They have mixed emotions.

I caught myself on the trailcam! Soon I will be mulching leaves.

Nutmeg grabbed a shrew in the forest.

Our coyote was back, three days later. He was snuffling in the bushes. The cats may have left the shrew there. He's a good clean-up crew. I've not seen him in the daytime.
