Crafting 101

Down I went to Sew Crafty. It's famous around these parts. I remember making dresses (2015) and 4 skirts (2015) for the kidlets. We'd go down there, they'd select fabric, and we had fun. They both buy from the thrift store these days, and sew accents on the clothes.

For years I have struggled with this machine. It was pretty basic. I had the wrong bobbin sizes for a couple of decades, which Sue told me about. I had no idea! I was giving myself a headache trying to work on the machine. I don't know when I got it, but it has to date to the early 80s. I shall have to find a good home for it.

I toddled on down to the Sew Crafty. There was a woman working on a quilt. You can rent these machines for $125/day. The machines are amazing. It's mostly computer driven.

Rosalie, the new owner who is very knowledgeable about the machines and techniques, showed me the various sewing machines and their features. It was a busy spot with lots of women my age looking for items. I had an anxiety attack, and needed a couple of hours to settle down afterwards.

This was the last of a discontinued model. Hooray for sale prices. It mechanically threads the needle. For us old folks, this is helpful. It is excellent for someone who needs reading glasses. I just didn't think my old machine was capable. Well, there goes the family fortune!

My felted piece, I wanted to play around with it.

I did it!

My sun looks like a crab, but I'm getting the hang of it!

It is relaxing.

After our lights are down, I'll set the card table up in the guest room. I can dabble at will. This is the last day for them.

It's a good day for indoor play. I did the driveway yesterday after our snow. Underneath the snow is ice, I drove the garbage and recycling the 100m down the driveway. 😳  It is durn cold. I slept in, so I had to hustle.
