Trip home from the city

I wrote yesterday about our wonderful adventure going to the kids' high school musical last Friday.  So many kids were involved and volunteering, as well as the actors and stage hands. It's a village...

Driving to the show in the dark the lights were wonderful to see. This house has to house musicians. I love it. Of course, as we drove home Saturday just before noon, nothing was lit!

Saturday morning, the kids had a 2 p.m. matinee, and had to head out for a 12:30 call. There is lots of make up to apply and costumes to climb into. We said our goodbyes and headed home to see the cats. Bye!!!

On the way home, a Tesla, (Yuck!) 

and a coyote crossed our path.

 

 They were back ice fishing Saturday morning. It just doesn't look safe to me, but the smart ones know to test the ice. You can see the augers out as they create a fishing hole.

Richmond has a lot of development going on. 

The roundabouts have been an issue. They aren't quite right!

This is what we felt, as well.

We kept driving, headed for home. This is a favourite place on our drive. They have a pond, and fountains in summer. 

Dwyer Hill Training Centre

In March, the government announced:

"...the Honourable Anita Anand, Minister of National Defence, announced a $1.4-billion infrastructure project to upgrade special operations forces’ facilities at the Dwyer Hill Training Centre in Ottawa."

We pass this on our way into Ottawa. It was for sale, we'd heard, but instead, they are building infrastructure on the other side of Perth Rd.

We arrived home, me wishing I'd put the trailcam out in the hallway. The cats ate both dinner and breakfast from Friday/Saturday, double rations, but kept themselves busy.

We made it to Friday!

We drive by this place a lot. It was up for sale, but did not sell. Now they are going to renovate the old buildings. It's a little pricey!

Repairs for only $1.4 billion!

It is an amazing facility. It was creepy driving by when we first travelled this route.

They did work on it, extending it on the upper left, and adding something secret behind those tall gates!

Once, when we drove by, I could see the special forces with the dogs. That got my attention! They were all staring at us! 

OK, some self-deprecating humour. Do you remember chair socks? I spotted them on Kay's blog post, and ordered some. It's been a while. Ours were covered in cat fur. It was time to wash them. It occurred to me to put them in a laundry bag, but I did not. Rookie mistake.

Do you know what happens when you wash them in an LG machine? They get caught in the little groove in the bottom. Six of them were hiding there, soaked, and I had to re-rinse them. I laughed so hard.  😅

Clever me 😉, I decided to keep on cleaning. It was time for the oven. Why not put them on top of the stove to dry?! I shall tell you. One melted on the back burner. Man did it stink. Glad I kept checking on them.

We had some air traffic yesterday, as President Biden is finally visiting. First, a Canadian plane. Then the 'no call sign' plane. As if no one knows whose it is!

On the ground they have been preparing.

But, back to nature. Fuzzy has been a busy fawn! 

Cinnamon was watching, got bored!

Up the hill, across the gully, can you see them? There are three sleeping, chewing their cud.

A sign of spring. You can see the grass in spots. I looked more closely under the silver maple tree.

You can see the daffodils starting up. It is a beginning!

And the tulips, just under the front deck! We've a microclimate here, facing south.

Indoors my orchid has a sunburn on the lower left leaf. I should have been watching it better. My bad.

I spotted a turkey vulture last weekend. Spring is here! (Old photo, as it was way up high!)
