April 3rd – first crack at it!
In preparation for Earth Day, I went ditch diving. I left it too late this year. Usually, I go just before the ditches thaw, so that I'm not walking through water.
The west side of the highway was iffy, as it will freeze and thaw, and as you walk you can suddenly drop down into the bottom of the ditch!
As I began, it started to rain. Great! Then, the winds were blowing, the rain turned to hail and suddenly it was all over.
It can be nerve wracking. This kind of thing happens so frequently, right beside me. Drivers are so aggressive.
Good story...
One day, I spotted two cars, both pulling trailers, slowing down and stopping in the vacant land across the street. I watched them, lots of people dump garbage there (two TVs), as well as the property owner, although the property is for sale. Anyway, I heard them on the phone, giving our address and saying they would be late. Two middle-aged couples. I fetched the mail and nodded to them. Then, they began to change the tire. I went back to the house.
Later, a tow truck came up the drive and rang the bell. Turns out they'd called him, changed it themselves, and left without cancelling. Such bad manners.
This spring, look what I found there. They just left it behind.

April Decor
I made the decoration two years ago, and found the perfect spot for it this year. On the arbour.

I sewed a new flag for the mailbox with leftovers. You can see my shiny clean ditches!
I used to make the girls skirts and dresses. They mostly wear leggings and jeans now! They are active girls. I have some of this leftover material and I'll do a new flag for summer. The insects and butterflies will be perfect.
