Dec. 29 – at 2 a.m. it was pouring rain, but -4℃  which is not good. By 6:30 the temperature rose to -2. By 9:34 it was 2 ℃!

By 6:55 a.m. the TV reception started to go. Then it warmed up to -1℃. 
6 a.m.

The lightning stopped by the time it got closer.

An ice storm was forewarned for Dec. 29 ...

Dec. 25 There was an ice storm, we had snow in eastern Ontario:


Dec. 27 – a mess, up to 6192. Dec. 28 down to 409 without power. Southwestern Ontario:

Temperatures were 8+℃ Friday morning, 4℃  by 11 am, 3 pm it was 3 ℃., 3:10 down to 2, 4 down to 1. 



British Columbia had an atmospheric river. The flooding was awful. They were evacuated, but went back this week.

Major storm, Dec. 10 and overnight into Dec. 11th

We don't mind winter. We prepare, hunker down, and are happy not to have to drive to work. There is great beauty in the snow, if you are mobile, and can dress for it. 




That said, British Columbia has had an 'atmospheric river.' There is flooding in and around Abbotsford. What a difference between here and there. Jesse's cottage is near Cultus Lake. Fingers crossed for them.

CBC wroteA summary from Environment Canada says 140 millimetres of rain fell at the Hope airport on Wednesday, 125 mm at Cultus Lake and 110 mm at the Chilliwack airport.


The ministry says there are approximately 23 damaged sites consisting of rockfall, roadway debris, shoulder undermining, exposed or blocked culverts, and areas of ponding water.
