Aster turns 16 today. We brought some surprises on Sunday when we visited after the concert.
Also, I gifted her a pair of earrings we'd bought at a local artisan's show. They kept sliding off the cardboard. I wrapped it in a piece of lace I found. This came from her dress I'd made back in the day, 2014. I am surprised how fast the years went. Faster than when I noticed in my own children. You turn around and they are writing their G1 driver's licence, or going to university!
I wrote Aster a poem!
It is such an epic stage of life for us. We've been so involved with the kids with Gramma Camps, and having them over for week-long visits. Having Jordan off in his own apartment in Kingston really helps it hit home. I am verklempt!

Your green kits remind me that we have purchased that hydroponic lettuce a couple of times recently. It’s a little more expensive, but it tastes good, and it’s Canadian. Eh.
I love every word of this post, including all those in your very cleverly rhymed poem. The photos are great and I so love all the smiles. Sending many happy birthday wishes to Aster with even more wishes for lots more!
A beautiful poem that I bet she'll keep forever.
Time flies. A wonderful sunset!
Oh I love each and every photo... especially you in the pool with her!

Another milestone knocked over... they just keep coming, don't they?! You will never stop being gran - just as you will always be mum... YAM xx
I would be Verklempt too, in a huge way. Both our grandies are a lot taller than either of us!!! But it is wonderful to be with them, involved in their life events and changes, always a steady grandparent no matter what has happened or will.Love those photos. XXXX
Cute family photos, happy Birthday to Aster. The sunset is gorgeous. Have a great day!
So many of my blogging writers posted that sunset. It was glorious. As were, we can see, the hugs and fun. What do I do for surprises? Food stuffs.
Even though they are older , they still look like fun people to be around.
