Wednesday was my day to take the cats in for their annual exams and shots. There have been many successful visits, but I had a problem. Joe is sick with a horrid bout of coughing, wheezing, and I was going solo.
I have so many bad visits with cats. I tried not to think of those. One year we had to cancel and rebook. Nutmeg was so loud, Cinnamon and disappeared in a panic.
This is what she is like:
One year a dog sat and barked for our 15 minutes in the waiting room. The cats were scared to death. Noises trigger my social anxiety.
Another time we turned up in the parking lot and a woman was there looking for her cat who had escaped her arms or the car. It was so sad. She never found it.
This time, I had to wait a bit. There was a dog in one room. I covered the two cat carriers with my coats, hoping to shield them. The dog was being noisy in the room Another big dog entered, and he was very excited and was yapped loudly. I just shook. He was very kind and took his dog outside after apologising. I was so stressed. I was nearly weeping. I was tearing up.
I finally realized what was wrong with me. I'd missed my antidepressant pill the day before. I couldn't figure out was was wrong. Not until dinner time, when I went to take my meds. Oy vey.
Nutmeg wasn't a happy camper. They lived at the vet about 6 years ago. They were rescued by someone who found them on the side of the road. We adopted them from the vet, where they lived for a few weeks until we took them in.

What an adventure. One kitty looks like he could pick the latch with a few more tries. Might need zip ties for the next trip. Consider taking Joe to the vet, or his doc. Lots of stuff going around. Took me 3 weeks just to get over non-covid, non-flu sinus junk, even with meds. Linda in Kansas
Our vet lets you sit in the car with the cats, until they can go straight in. You call to say you have arrived and they call when they are ready. Less stress all around.
If they are like my dog Miney , they do not like going to the vet.
Take care, enjoy your day and happy weekend.

One of those grit the teeth and drive on through things in life! YAM xx
Taking cats to the vets is not an enjoyable experience.
I wish you had my visiting vet. I think it has made both my life and Lizzie's easier! I quarantine Lizzie in the bathroom till she comes and they sit on the floor together. I can't say Lizzie LIKES it, but she's not being distracted. The dogs would make me crazy too with the barking.
Oh, I'm so sorry you had a rough morning. Glad it is over and done, Cinnamon certainly took it in stride. Every cat I've ever had has hated the vet. I hope you have a more relaxing day today :)
Oh the joy to be home again. They will probably smell every room, toy and doorway to make sure nothing has changed.
Hopefully you won't have to go through all the stress and hassle until next year.
What a day you had, Jenn. I’m so glad Nutmeg and Cinnamon came through their checkups safely, but my heart went out to you reading about the waiting room and all the noise. Those moments can be so overwhelming, especially when you’re already carrying the load on your own. I’m glad you figured out why everything felt so intense—missing a dose can really throw things off. Your honesty about it is such a gift. And those two sweeties… their personalities shine through every photo and story. I hope Joe feels better soon and that you all get a calmer, gentler week ahead. 💛
Vet visits are always stressful for our critters. My brother in la was a vet and I was always amazed at how calmly he handled the critters. It was as if they knew him all their life.
Oh wow, what a circus. I am so glad you managed so well.
After updating Firefox, it appears my Failed to Publish nightmares are over. I wanted to especially thank you for stopping by even when I was unable to leave you a comment.
I feel for you. Vet visits can be stressful to both cats and humans alike. Sorry you had to do it alone.
Oh vet visits! So much trauma. I liked having a kitty hospital once somewhere. They were smart. No dogs. But rare to find.So sorry you and kitties had to endure the waiting room - plus not having your regular dose of calming meds! You all were quite brave !
