the rain in Muskoka

newview027.JPGA few days ago I walked out at sunset. The sky was incredible. There was a layer of cloud made up of dark gray and forecast rain. Above it the big, white pouffy clouds, almost protected by the rain clouds. As the sun set it reflected the salmon pinks of the sunset. Little did wee know that nature was celebrating the rains to come. We need the rain.

It seems that the heavens have dumped glorious moisture in our lakes. Our lake has filled up IMG_3785.JPGby 30 cm or so. It is wonderful to see it back after the dry August. The seagulls visit, paddling around the shore. They are happy to see - perhaps just hopeful of food. Most of the tourists are gone. The lake quite peaceful.
In between storms, in the calm lake, the autumn colours reflect in the lake. What a privilege to be here.

The Cranberry Festival begins this weekend. I hope it is warm and clear, the cold winds from last year spoiled the event.
