Do you like online auctions?

I do. They give me ideas, at least. This one came up for sale. Sadly, I didn't win the auction. I went to bed early. I haven't been to an auction in ages. I thought this a perfect piece!

I had a whim about replacing a cupboard, you see. This piece was built by the previous owner of the house. I want some storage, however. The space is about 35" x 35".
I thought about replacing the above shelving, with my bedside table. This space is 40", but that means finding a new table for the bedroom.

Off we went. First stop Smiths Falls.

Next, we went to this spot. Two guys walked in. "Oooh," said one. "I love that old smell. These are antiques."
The other guy said, "Yeah, the smell of mold!"
The clerk at the cash registered indignation. The funny thing was, when the dude passed me, all I could smell was cigarette smoke!

I like looking at antiques. They speak of a difference time.

A washstand might be the thing, but I'm not sure!

OK, next destination, off to Franktown. There are two antique shops there. Here are the photos from the first one. We wiped our shoes, it was a dry day. She watched JB walk in and asked if he had wiped his shoes. It was insulting. We will never go back.

The signage was horrid. "Don't touch this,"
"Ask for help if you want to open this."
It was creepy. As another couple passed us as we left, I said, "Make sure you wipe your feet. Mom is in there!"
It was crowded, as well. Just too many pieces.

Next stop, we pulled in the back parking for Revival. Two cars were there. Walked around to the front. The signage said they were open Sat. 10 - 4:00. Door locked, we walked out to the back. Someone was emptying her car. She said that the owners weren't back yet. It'll open next week.

It is an old church, converted to an antique store.

Next stop was Carleton Place. We looked through another store. I spotted this same table!

This place was only open on Wednesdays! This was Balderson.

Now, I have to rethink the project! Weigh my options...

My silly knee; Balderson, Clayton, Tatlock

Sunday, April 2nd, was a sunny day. We decided to take a bit of a drive. I'm still having issues with my injury.

People have been so sympathetic with my silly knee.

Thank you! It wasn't much of a bruise, from falling on the ice, but quite sore.

I've been icing it, I've been to physio and she stretched and massaged it. She told me I hurt the rectis femoris, which goes from the thigh down the leg to work the knee cap.
July 15, 2011
I haven't done anything to the bones. Thankfully. She was very thorough, checking my range of motion, watched me walk, and do leg lifts, measuring my motion with a giant protractor. The math teacher in me found it quite interesting.

I knew I'd been favouring my left leg.  Since that time, my right foot has been inflamed by my tenosynovitis. did it in 2011 to my right foot, where the sheath around the tendon in the upper foot swells and becomes painful. I have to learn my lesson, and slow down when the pain comes. Then: foot up, ice it, and take it easy. Hence, a nice drive.

Meantime, back to our trip. First to Balderson for some cheese.
These two were patiently waiting. The one seemed older, and, perhaps, blind.

Then we hit the road.

This area has several gravel pits.

It's maple syrup season. There was many cars parked here at this sugar shack.
Then, the red bluebird boxes!

I'd heard that there were River Otters and Trumpeter Swans in Clayton. That was stop #2.
None of the above, but rushing water and Canada Geese. I love the deep blue water!

Several deer feeding by the side of the road.

Then up to Tatlock Rd., and home. The rivers are flowing freely. I love seeing this farm as we come around the corner. Nestled into the hills, with the cool barns.
The blue skies were most welcome. We have a couple of rainy days ahead.

Sunday afternoon drive: Lanark Highlands

The Amish Store
No Amish were harmed in the making...
but none were evident.
Both of us are fighting some health issues. I put my back out. SIGH.
We decided a drive about the area was called for.

Gotta love that Balderson cheese!

I began my photos in Balderson, while we let someone pass us. The traffic on highway #511 was constant.

Several young, male drivers were doing well beyond the speed limit, and passed us. Sun roof open, engine gunning as they passed slower traffic, music blaring.

Stop and smell the roses dudes! Or at least drive safely!

Happy horses
Skating rink in a flooded field.
This is rural Ontario!
Love those old barns
Still sledding season

Most rivers have ice

Dreary colours, but spring is on the horizon!

Love this small bridge

See the deer tracks on the edge of the ice?
Isn't it pretty? I love the deep blue of the water.

Joes Lake

Hubby let the trucker by.
The soft road had some ice and mud!
Strange working on a Sunday afternoon!

Yes, Lanark Highlands afternoon drive!

Frozen lakes

We went to Poland!

Such great old buildings.
Gramma was taking the grandkids for a walk (far right).

Smoke detectors – not just a good idea,
it's the law.

I love these old school houses!
The sign says Hopetown School #13 - Lanark

Need firewood?

Everyone needs a man cave! I love the dead flowers hanging in the basket. Someone tried to put on a softer touch!
