✈ Things were flying!

Friday began with a bang. On several fronts. There was a lockdown in nearby Carleton Place. An emergency. Then there was an amber alert about a pair who were armed and on the run. That fizzled out. They posted a photo and named the pair. Hopefully more information is to come. It is good to know the alert system works!

Police later said they were wanted on warrants
 unrelated to this incident.

Things settled after they found and arrested the dude from our DNE township who stole a car. He was near the Beckwith Recreation Complex. We were there for the Beckwith Heritage Festival. They were giving wagon rides! This is what was noticed on radar.

Saturday morning, I went to Flight Radar, and found a Brockville Cessna having a good day.

Later on, I was watching the activity in the air. I noticed an Ornge Air helicopter off to an emergency. It was slowing, then flying lower, and curved back around and went back to the Ottawa Airport.

Turns out it was a car on fire. Thankfully our volunteer firefighters went at it.

I checked out what was happening in 🛫Ukraine. Not a good sign seeing the US Navy plane circling. Grateful to be here – not there. What an awful situation.

On a happier note, our statistics for influenza have been good. Masking and hand washing are good things!

Things got more exciting, as we were expecting our kids. More on that tomorrow!

makes me wonder about what folks i did hang out with as a kid ...meaning they had scanners ...wonder what they have now? since technology has gotten so more advanced. i found them kind of annoying ...the scanners ...they would beep and making silly noises and whatnot. ( :

You're absolutely right...nothing much happening there! Just fire and theft of cars, and planes and helicopters here and there. Such a boring existence. But it all came out alright, so there's that.

Flight radar, I also have cruisemapper.com, a friend from NZ is on board the Ocean Endeavour, as a Sony Photography Ambassador, and I have followed her travels in the Southern Ocean and now the Antarctic. You would be surprised at the number of huge ocean going ships down there at any one time. They vary in length and size, and then I hopped over to Australia, to see what was there. Massive vessels!!! Hope all those crazy people up your way start to behave.

When I read the title of your post, I wondered if you were going to mention all the UFOs flying around these days, including the one shot down over the Yukon. Yikes! What's THAT all about?

Those two numbskulls look like they lost out in the gene pool.

Certainly a lot of stress in the world these days. When some of the stress is right in your neighborhood it's more worrisome.

Busy skies indeed! I was looking at a diagram the other day showing how many satellites there were above the earth. It is amazing to me that there are no collisions, or maybe there are and we just don’t hear about it. The number was unfathomable! That alert certainly would have gotten my attention. Thank goodness for all the firefighters. They will always have my utmost respect. I shake my head all the time with what is happening in Ukraine, and fervently hope there will be peace for all their sakes. So much going on in the world isn’t there?

I feel so sorry for the Ukrainian people who didn't ask for this war, but are suffering as a result of it. On another note, I suspect death totals in Turkey and Syria will top 30,000 in a day or so.

Those tracking apps are certainly interesting. We get the Ornge Air helicopters flying over us a lot lately. The firestation up the road is a transit point for them & ambulance. I am encouraged by the drop in Covid, influenza & RSV in our region too.

lots and lots going on. We see the Ornge Helicopter all the time wandering back and forward from RVH to downtown Toronto.

Alerts are helpful if they're targeted enough. I'd certainly rather know as things are happening than find out later.
