We had our septic tank fixed on Tuesday. The dude said we (I) should cut the grass and weeds over the septic bed. It is easier than paying for a new septic system ($25,000)! The roots could damage the septic bed. The bed is larger than I thought. I was so sad! There aren't enough wild flowers to my mind.
This is the before!
The bees and monarchs love the Viper's Bugloss.... goodbye!
I wasn't happy. I don't think I chewed up any frogs. Last time it was a milk snake... 😢 next, I have to take down that sapling in the other side of the ditch. I've not got a plan for that, yet.
I spotted a Gray Tree Frog on the table out front.
People were wondering what this flight was all about! It even
made the CBC news. In this climate, you never know what the US Administration is up to. A former NORAD officer believes it is a training flight. No one would talk about it from the government. It is really noisy, apparently. It came from Bangor, Maine. The
USAF has a YouTube video which show the outside and inside up close.
Also up in the air this
Northrop Grumman RQ-4B Global Hawk flying at 53,000' over the Black Sea. They are amazing machines.
🥇 It's terrific having uplifting news! 🥇 Hardworking young people!

The septic tank issue is saddening. Losing this space of beauty is a downer for sure. I know you will make the area beautiful though.
How close is the tank to the surface?
Good question! I'm not sure.
Sorry you are losing your patch of wildlife area. I would never have thought of such a thing. We used to see that plane when we were living in navy areas. Glad you found out before any damage was done to the septic tank but know you are sad to lose this kind of habitat. Congratulations to Camryn Rogers and Ethan Katzburg. Good news is always welcome for athletes who put their heart and soul into their craft.
Too bad about the wildflowers.
I would be more worried about the sapling than the grasses and flowers! Those are strange things up in the air.

You have plenty space on the acres to compensate for the tank area, although it will take adjusting to. We've had a lot of fighter planes and supply planes flying maneouvers too... signs of the times? YAM xx
I know that native plants sometimes have very long roots.
(Sorry, hit Publish too early). You might want to get a second opinion about keeping the area flower-free
One glimpse of Flight Radar and you wonder where all those planes go or come from? Tree roots might be harmful for a septic system, but grass? or flowers? Google it Jenn.
I'm sure losing the land for wild flowers and other plants is disheartening but at least it will keep you from having a big bill.
...the Viper's Bugloss is a knockout.
I didn't know flower roots were that deep. You could another another septic tank company and see what they say. I think those AWACS used to be based in Oklahoma City. Linda in Kansas
Sad about the septic tank!
Your photos are lovely, Jenn! The tree frog is delightful!
There are always changes when it comes to nature and the effect of our changing atmospheric conditions...good and bad!!
glad the tank was fixed
The thought is above the septic 'field' less vegetation will help the stuff from the septic tank evaporate much faster. The field is where the water goes to flow out into the land and evaporate or seep into the ground.
On terribly wet springs our field will show a bit of water seeping up through the grasses.
Hopefully that explanation helps.
I'm sorry about your septic tank. I wonder if anybody has one in Hawaii. I'm always in awe of all the work you have to do on your property.
