The cottagers have fires on in these cool nights. There are so many fires across Canada, I have to stop worrying about that!
🐸The frog pond is dry until we get more rain. (That usually happens in October/November.)
Vernal frog pond in the forest:
I was watching the goldfish pond, planning out the goldfish transfer to the indoor tank. The frogs begin to move into the goldfish pond for hibernation. The big bull frog sits in the foliage and waits for prey. I'll have to let them be. We've no water near us.
Tall Anenome:
When we locked down for COVID, the grocery store gave me this in a wee 4" pot, and I've managed to hold on to it. Another fall chore, moving the indoor plants indoors! I keep checking the long-term forecast.
The wasps have made homes in the bird house!
MiniFred has been around. I worry, as this burrow, the part under the deck, floods in spring. I think it is attached to the rain downspout.
We sit on the back deck when we can. Today it should warm up. I carried this friend in on my sweatshirt! I cannot find any in my photo archives. Interesting critters.

Here we go. A new week. The garbage is out. It is a cold morning. It was 8 ℃, I bundled up.

Amazing how much a plant can grow in five years. That's fantastic. I really admire what you do to keep the frogs and fish going during your very cold winters.. That's a lot of work; I hope they are grateful!
Hello,
Love the sky images and the cute frogs. The wildfires are scary, I hope they get them under control. Take care, have a great day and happy week ahead.
Poor frogs may be out of luck this year if you don't get rain.
Brr, it was only 2 when I woke up at six this morning! Tonight looks cold too. I'm going to haul in some coleus and the rest will just have to thrive or die.

...it's a frog eat frog world! YAM xx
I love how you are so caring about all of the wildlife around you. I would never have thought about bringing the goldfish to the tank, but I can see how your winters would not be healthy for them. Hope you all get some much needed rain. Just makes me sick to see the wildfires in Canada and California. so sad when nature is destroyed.
154.. that is a lot of frogs!
MiniFred is so cute.
That's quite a plant! I did not know that frogs ate other frogs. I feel silly not know that but there I go, and I learned something new today. Cute little caterpillar. I hope you get enough rain to put those awful fires out. We are getting chilly mornings and though lower than they have been, days are in the mid 70s.
The pond in Roy Brown Park was bone dry today. I presume that it has been that way for quite awhile.
I had one of your green friends in my yard this week. I let him/her go on their way.
There's a pond here and lots of frogs through the spring and summer, not too many obvious now, I suppose they are starting to think about hibernating. But still some nice warm weather to come. And some mild rainfall I hope.
Love your critters. It is warmin g up here.
The fires can be smelled here in the midwest, too. Loved seeing the frogs you are keeping from dying. How sweet of you to do that.
