Fred began working on the burrow under the deck (#3). By now she'd moved the kits from the shed (#2) to the gully (#4). I wondered what she was up to!
OK, Fred's saga continues. My understanding was that the young groundhogs are eventually kicked out of the burrow, as these are solitary critters. My theory is that while she is lactating, her maternal hormones still kick in. They move off in late August anyway, for a hibernation burrow.
The trailcam I'd left showed a raccoon exploring. They are no match for groundhog claws, though. And what big teeth you have! We had a Bobcat and a Coyote trotting along the driveway. In the dark.
The Wingscapes camera I'd set on the deck was great. They came and went.
I was in Ottawa with the grandies at Grandie Camp for a few days. At home, chaos! OK, what could the remaining two groundhog kits get into? They could dig!

Teenagers these days!!! What a saga... Thanks for the entertainment. YAM xx
Cute as all get out. But I still remember when one was digging under the foundation to build his burrow here in the city. There were better spots for that and I regretfully filled it up.
I don't think we have groundhogs here -- can you believe it! Cute little buggers.
The Adventures of Jenn and Fred.
Oh your critters are so fun...love watching the videos! Poor Fred, had 4 and now there are 2 kids...though I dare say it's a bit easier for her to manage these two.
Wagging her tail like an angry cat! Good idea to flood the area you wanted to reclaim.
I've had chipmunk burrows but nothing big like a groundhog.
Fred and the babies are so darn cute.
Cute little devils.
Never a dull day.
Funny videos.
And I though our grandhog was a problem. Yeep. I think they need to find another place to destroy, and soon.
