Saturday's Critters

Everyone is on the move, one way or another. Birds are migrating, critters are fattening up, insects are disappearing. Except for blackflies. I managed another three bites a couple of days ago. It is unusual.

Poor people out east, in the maritimes are being struck by Hurricane Fiona, which is now a tropical storm, but still powerful. The damage is terrible.

The tree frogs were out a couple of days ago. They did not appear yesterday! Three on the railing. Two smalls and a large.

The hornets are still going.

I noticed hornets bashing into the spotlight early one morning just before dawn. I set up the videocamera to see what they were doing. I was trying to figure out when they might be gone. This may be a clue.

I made a mistake not removing the goldenrod in front!

Some are more nervous of the trailcam than others.

There were two hens and two chicks here, we saw them in the backyard, as well.

Sept 17 the doe appeared beside the tree house. I'd moved the trailcam here because the coyotes and raccoons were digging for food. Instead there was a doe.

And she's back!

Sept 17, 10:17 p.m. it was beside the tree house in the yard. Not a sign of her in the daytime. No bird feeders out here for awhile!

Coyote and bear evidence!

Man, that mama bear looks fat! Ready for the long sleep almost!
So sorry to hear about the storm hitting the far east Canadians.

Hello Jenn,
I am so sorry to learn about the damage caused by the Hurricane in the east of Canada. Don't you usually call someone to dispose of the Hornets' nest and its occupants? Meanwhile they are eating up the honeybees. I loved seeing all your nighttime visitors.
What is that white stuff in front of the frog?
All the best.

It is almost like a zoo at your place.

You have the most remarkable collection of wildlife. (I must admit -- hornets didn't do much for me! They're scary!). Love the frog especially.

Loving your critters. As I always do.

You got it all going on! Fox, coyotes, deer, a bear, and I love the turkeys. We had a wild turkey loose in our neighborhood several months ago. I still don't know where she came from.

Nice frogs! They can’t really be friendly but they look pleasant-tempered.

Interesting how fast Maple can pounce on those worms.

Love your frog photos and the video of Mabel or Maple...forgot her name :) So cute. I used to watch from my office window, the turkeys and chicks every year when I worked at the state park. I miss them. Interesting videos and photos, as always.

I follow a couple of Twitter accounts that post trail cam videos, and I always enjoy seeing what they've caught. I can't get over the variety you have there. It must be exciting to see!
