April showers bring May flowers!

Also ticks! Nutmeg had her first Monday, Apr. 18th. We'll get some goop from the vet and treat them.
We are getting closer to spring! Saturday night, April 16th, we had a skiff of snow. It's been cold. This morning, it is snowing some more, big heavy flakes! April snows aren't unusual. Besides, it'll melt soon.
We've a crocus or two, but someone has nipped off the tulips!

Daffodils

As I approached the dock, I had a pair of wood ducks fly in, and promptly climb up the hill away from me. Then, they took off to the wetland.

The nesting boxes are ready, #2 (on the left), has had a potential guest check it out.

April 6th for comparison!

The wood frogs have laid their eggs!

Mosquito larvae are active in the pond.  The bugs will be next! mosquito larvae from Jennifer Jilks on Vimeo.

It's quite the sight, wood frogs mating:

Hello Jenn,
Love the cute snuggle bears. It is nice to see some spring blooms, the crocus are pretty. We are still having some winter temperatures here. Take care, enjoy your day and the week ahead.

We were covered in white last evening but it is melting this morning.

It was snowing when I woke up this morning. I didn't want to get out of bed. It is raining pretty hard now.

There's some of that snow this morning, but the ground is too warm now for it to stay long.

We've had strange weather this spring but life must go on.

Well Jenn, we had all of two minutes of snow! Couldn’t believe it! Too bad about your tulips. I have heard deer love those!!! Is that true? Your crocus is real pretty. What fun to see the wood ducks! Fascinating to see the Mosquito larvae. I am assuming the frogs will be thrilled. I expect we will be seeing similar sights the next time we go to Huntly Meadows. Good to see the snuggle bears getting their lessons :)

Wood ducks are such pretty creatures. It's chilly here, but thankfully no snow. Spring is definitely on her way.

Bummer about the ticks. I have a crocus and some mini-daffs but that's about it. Maybe soon. Love the wood duck!

Be careful with the ticks. I hate them but they are just something the woods have. Good to see you have a bloom:)

It's always lovely to see the first signs of Spring. Wood ducks are beautiful. We saw one once on a Scottish loch, it had escaped from a collection (we don't have them wild over here)
