Here we be. Friday again. Tomorrow is Christmas in February! The kids are coming, finally, now that COVID numbers are down. We will celebrate my 65th, as well as Josephine's 14th birthday from December, too.
The news is still horrid. Twas ever thus. Canada has a lot of Ukranians, and people of Ukranian descent, many with loved ones there. Our Prime Minister was joined by Deputy Minister Chrystia Freeland, Defence Minister Anita Ananda, and Foreign Affairs Minister Melanie Joly to announce a second tranche of sanctions. During the press conference Trudeau and our three female ministers said that we were with the Ukranian people. Minister Freeland, with a B.A. in Russian history (Harvard), also has her Master's in slavonic studies from Oxford. She speaks 5 languages, including Ukranian. She said some comforting words in that language to the people.
One person on Twitter wrote:
"Putin just got told off by three Canadian women and a leader better looking than him."
Here is advice from author and trauma survivor, Julie Lalonde, a woman who was stalked for 10 years.

Things have been active here. Lots of birds. They know a storm is coming, I think! Today, more snow.
🎾 JB has been watching tennis. Happy man.
I've been watching some other things. For Black History Month, I decided to PVR the Women of the Movement (2022) series (6 episodes) that has been on W channel. It is an atrocious story, but one white people must watch to understand a piece of black history. It tells the story of Emmett Till, a young black kid murdered in the south by racists in 1955. His mother was empowered to make change in those horrid times of Jack Crow. She helped spur the Civil Rights Movement. We don't know how much freedom we have, we white people.💘I've been balancing that emotional story with the February RomComs. This one, Mix up in the Mediterranean (2021), is a light plot, a competition by chefs, filmed in Malta. The scenery is grand! Nice to see beaches from this frozen north.
🧊Going to fetch the mail, the ice accretion sparkles in the sun. The trees are happier in the sunshine, although you can hear them creaking and clacking as the wind blows.I hope you have a descent day. I have some house cleaning to do, although I did bathroom and kitchen floors, there is more to be done with actual family coming!

...stay strong and have a wonderful day.
You’re welcome. I had assumed that it no longer worked. And I hope that it does work for you.

The very fabric of society is careworn and shredding... is there anyone on the horizon who can patch it up? YAM xx
I don't even answer the phone unless I know the caller. Otherwise they need to leave a message and I'll get back to them.
We get those weird calls all the time too.
How exciting to see family. I got ready to see mine around Christmas, but COVID hit one of the members. Then maybe a go see some of them in Jan. when they traveled with a kid who was in hockey tournaments (field, or indoor, not ice). She got COVID too. So never got whatever they had as my Christmas present. Nor got to see them. Yes to the trauma shielding. I watch local news mainly. COVID numbers, area changes. And friends let me know about other stuff I think. Hadn't heard about dumb old Texas gov. That explains the FB things about Trans rights. My poor conservative Texas cousins.
I really enjoyed All Creatures Great and Small, the 2020 series, really uplifting escape from these times. Also The Marvelous Mrs Maisel, recommend!
Glad you put some rock salt out. Bless you for taking care of the birdies and other critters. That's good advice not to watch the news all of the time. One weekend, I was getting junk calls and texts a lot. I think I counted 25 in one day. I didn't answer and blocked them, and it finally stopped.
Have a Jolly Jolly time with your family! Hooray!

accretion, a wonderful word for the ice cover. Ukraine, I am trying to NOT get upset by all the news there, the Russians who are opposing Putin's rules, and then getting arrested, and try to remember we are so much better off down here, and with friends all over the world, can be happy and relatively safe, even though the numbers in our small town are now at 31, with more people at undisclosed places!! Older daughter's birthday in early March, we cannot visit her safely, or even meet half way between our homes. A possible positive case in her workplace after one person drove his son to University, then the son has symptoms!!! over 12,000 cases on Friday, double that on Thursday, I am thinking the Government is hoping for herd immunity!!! Meanwhile we are staying home. Have a great gathering, another round of Birthday Wishes flying north.XXXXX
You have had a whole lot of snow!
Happy Birthday, how wonderful to celebrate with family!! I get a few spam calls I keep blocking them:)
So much for promising to visit more often. I need to add you to my left sidebar so I won't have to hunt you every time I want to visit and leave you a comment. Only with your permission of course.
I get those calls, too, but I have a landline only.
I'm not sure which is worse, Ukraine or Texas.
Sounds like a very special weekend has been planned. I hope it is calming and takes you to a very happy place.
Have a wonderful Christmas and birthday celebration(s). I know. Ukraine hurts deeply.
