While we are frozen in, we are watching reliable sources. I hope this doesn't creep north, but I know it has made it to Canada. Canadian Food Inspection Food Agency:
Here ↓ is an American resource. I just hope these people are able to keep on doing their research. We shudder reading the news from the bizarre scene to the south.

I began the day by feeding deer. There were 11 on Wednesday morning. Who can begrudge them a bit of feed? They are healthy, and lovely to watch. We feed the birds, squirrels, Labbit, and love watching them, struggling in the snow.
The poor birds are holding their own. It's lovely seeing both cardinals at the feeder, momma and poppa.
This is quite a coat. I am always nostalgic putting it on. When I first began teaching in 1982, I bought this 'Yard Duty' down-filled coat on sale. Back in those days we actually let kids outside for recess in -20℃. weather! 😜 I've had to move the zipper, and resew buttons, but this coat has really gotten me through some cold days. It was -19 ℃. and pretty chilly. I was wearing housecoat, jammies underneath and Joe's boots!
My gloves are super, too. Leather with fringe, also on sale. They were made by someone local.
Around the corner of the house, they were waiting for me.
I asked Joe if he could remember any other critters 'doing bear,' but he couldn't. Deer fights never amount to much. This is how they fight, though, with those hooves. It's also why coyotes can't take down a healthy deer, that, and their speed.
I was happy that Joe's back has recovered enough for him to go out and feed deer. It's been a rough few weeks. I videotaped him from the back deck in my housecoat and jammies.
They do have a heirarchy, and they know their place. The fawns like to play around with manners and respect for their elders, as they roar around. I think our highest number this year was 14, which isn't a lot. I think 22 was our max one year.

Such a joy to see how the deer know they are onto a good thing, but still want to keep their distance and are alert to all around them.
I've witnessed Avian Flu first hand. It ain't pretty... YAM xx
Love that coat! I often do chores in my PJ's with coveralls on so that made me smile.
What is happening here is frightening in many ways.
Really, social media is so full of disinformation that is isn't even funny. I read this morning before I got disgusted that Measles isn't a big deal, you treat it with vitamins and you are fine. LOL.
The infamous bleach scene at the WH comes to mind.
Stay well up north!
We have had three cases at nearby lakes of ducks/geese with avian flu. The map you posted of course doesn't include this season. I have a flock of robins eating some red berries here that they can't digest, and their droppings are all over my car, parked under a tree. I am careful not to touch the droppings, and need to scrub them all off (with a long handled wiper cleaner) and get a car wash. I'm just waiting till they all go on their way first. Loved seeing your deer today! Oh, and that coat is so charming!
Those gloves are fabulous! I like the shot of the deer sprinting away.
Love the deer photos. It is great to see Joe feeding the deer.
Take care, have a wonderful week!
And I think back to when kids went out for recess and they didn't have supervisors.
I love seeing your deer. I can actually see your video today and hopefully my comment will go through as they often don't.
Need a hat! Love that nice coat. I have an old full length one too. Very nice when it's too cold outside. The deer really seem to be joyful watching the feed coming out! Be careful. Linda in Kansas
I saw a woodpecker for the first time on one of the trees in my courtyard last week. I need to get a better camera to take pictures though. Great pictures.
I found some sweet jammers at Giant Tiger that are a little more suitable for public viewing. (plaid and black and white fleece). I wear them most days all winter. I filled the feeders today and put out another "bird cake". I make my own suet cakes. My brother in law grows organic popcorn that I grind into it too, which the birds really go for. I'm worried about the birds coming north bringing the bird flu to our feathered friends.
I like your coat.
Lovely to see the deer and Joe feeding them.
All the best Jan
My yard duty coat is from 1975. It needs some repairs but is still working fine for me in our cold temperatures. My mittens are not as old but getting there.
It pleases me to see your deer, especially with the posturing. We are getting a slight beak in the weather for two days or so before it heads back down.
Your winter coat is cute -- I love the color. My coats are oldies too, but they work!
