UPDATE: gun range news

It was another piece, on CTV News, they did show the gun range, and Whyte lobbying for his former OPP gun range. Spent shell on the ground. They filmed Whyte saying that those against are "entrenched in their position, unwilling to negotiate or discuss that this will happen."
"An outdoor range should be popular.
"It's prudent council takes their time, but if it meets their guidelines, its should be approved."

We have a say locally, it is up to our township to rezone for it or no. He thinks that he meets RCMP gun range rules it should fly.

It is much more than our 'way of life.' That seems a trite way to refer to our situation. They make us look like NIMBYs. We have had to change the pattern of our lives to avoid the gunfire. People go away on vacation when the OPP used to shoot. The MIllar's million dollar horses and their students and riders had to change their activities to prevent an impact. Amy Millar has had to move pregnant mares, due to the risk of sudden noise.

It will affect property values. We would have to disclose it to potential buyers. It affects business and vacation properties, as renters are affected by the noise. Whyte refers to them a 'guidelines,' but there are federal laws that strictly control it. Sadly, the land is not zoned for a gun range. This isn't a guideline. It is our DNE Planning Act, which council must follow.

We await a report or two, or three – one is a Peer Review of the Acoustic Report, and then Council will vote on rezoning. It is difficult being patient, but that is the best way to ensure it is done properly. Sadly, the news reporter didn't do his homework. He didn't even mention the two thoroughbred horse farms nearby, including Ian Millar's farm. It is all about the noise. This particular landowner is concerned with fighting new federal gun laws, while promising to follow all the laws for gun ranges.

In the meantime, we are drawing the attention gun rights advocates, and the Freedom Convoy gunrights group. This is Tracey Wilson commenting on the CTV piece. She has threatened people with lawsuits, as she didn't like what they were saying about her on Twitter.

She has posted emails of Oro-Medonte Councillors who are working on a noise by-law. These are dangerous people, interfering with local issues.

So nerve-wracking for you.

...we have a few gun ranges that were established years in "rural" areas. Now they are surrounded by houses.

It's shocking the way gun "rights" have been interpreted and how they have come to trump all other rights.

Sigh. Tracey Wilson sounds like an aggressive (and one sided) piece of work.

Good Luck with the opposition to gun range!

Illinois is banning semi-automatic guns. Why can't all states do this?
