Here we are, putting some of the critters to bed or bidding them farewell. I'm still pondering when to bring in the goldfish. We were down to 2 C. on Thursday morning, but no frost. The hanging planters are hanging in. The fuschia is covered in caterpillars! 'Covered' is far fetched, but there must be a half dozen!
As always, I try to select the best thumbnail from each video – if you don't have the time or patience to watch it. I love their antics, though.

Always a joy to see the deer... but the grouse was a bit extra special, eh? I hadn't realised you had grouse over your way and on researching discover it is aka Fool's Hen - and that explains why at first I thought 'is Jenn sure, that looks like a hen to me!' 🤣 YAM xx

It's great to see a fawn play. I always think of deer as anxiety-ridden. So the coyote peed. I was fascinated because Lucy, my yellow Lab has big problems peeing at night. She wants me with her. She barks first. She seems to feel in supreme danger from coyotes and bears at night. But not that coyote!! I only see blurs of grouse in my woods when they explode out, but then I see them on the shoulder of the roads waiting for me to drive by. But sometimes they just sit in the road so I honk to remind them to get to safety. Keep the videos coming!
That fawn was so cute and spunky still. Grouse, oh my. And eyes of weasel...somehow you could tell who those eyes belonged to! Happy Oct. 1st.

The second video is my favourite this week. I like its flipping tail and the way the ear turns towards the sounds.
It certainly is a transitional time of year.
The young fawn's tail, so bushy, antics, and all those colder temperatures on the trailcam data.We are in spring and cool here, and very cold down south at the end of next week.Luckily we have enough firewood if the cold travels north to us.

I loved my fuschia plant in Illinois, but I don't see anyone with fuschias here in Hawaii. Perhaps our climate is not good for it. Hmmm...

Loved all the videos especially the deer. They watch, they sniff the air, ever vigilant of danger. Their cautious behaviour is clearly seen in your lovely videos. I had to smile on seeing the white tail lifted upward as it ran away. Absolutely charming captures.
