May 23 – Lymantria dispar dispar (LDD)
The moths are into a new instar (going from 4 => 6mm), and have covered my rose bush. I picked off (all I could see), and dropped them into soapy water.
Monday, May 24 – Gypsy Moths
There were more the next day. Instar #3: 11 mm long.

...years ago we had large numbers of them, perhaps they moved into your area.
Not sure if we have them. The tree next door has sometimes had the tent caterpillars, but I don't think it does this year.
Time will tell how much damage they do.
