We're going into a month-long lockdown. I don't think it is called for, nor does our local Medical Officer of Health (MoH). We've had a couple of variant breakouts, but they've a handle on it. Sadly, it is a different story in southern Ontario. ICUs are soon going to be overwhelmed. They were rationing care, and had begun to return to surgeries. That is done. They have to use the post-op recovery rooms for the overflow of patients.
According to our MoH, there are a lot of commuters in Lanark East, who are bringing it home, hence their spike. Another spike was a curling bonspiel in Perth.
In Focus: Wednesday, March 31, 2021- Dr. Paula Stewart
It’s our weekly house call with Dr. Paula Stewart, Medical Officer of Health with the Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit.

That is because it is in a retirement home, they told me. They don't post geographic locations for healthcare staff or long-term care homes. That's a change, and not smart.
Our local 'retirement home' down the highway, whose residents have been vaccinated, have the 10 cases. It's not as serious as it might be prior to the vaccine, but these are frail seniors. This is a for-profit home. Our MoH said they brought in some experts, as the care wasn't adequate with an outbreak. I've volunteered there, and the standard of care was pretty low. My client was placed in an old storage closet when their elevator pooched out. The charge nurse didn't darken the door for the 5 hours I was sitting with him. The retirement home association didn't want to do anything about it.

I wish we could get more vaccines and also get out the ones we have. I checked yesterday, and Ontario had a supply of more than 600 000 still in storage -- almost 25% of what they/we have received.
...getting appointment has become easier here and I hope that it will for you too!

Proving the point, also, that the vax program is not the be-all and end all of this thing... We are about to 'open up' over here. I am just staying put to watch what happens. YAM xx
Our Governor has declared victory over covid and put a clamp on the statistics as well. So I am just a little apprehensive.
Sorry to hear that COVID is trending upwards.
It feels like this is never going to end.
It is so disheartening to have further restrictions at this juncture of the pandemic. I'm so sorry. Here in BC they have instituted some restrictions, but they are not as stringent as yours. We are (hopefully) gathering outdoors for Easter dinner, socially distanced, in groups of 10. Stores and hair salons are open, but restaurants only for takeout or patio dining. I hope you fare well. Happy Easter!
