Tigger is back in town!

We had a visitor last night, and again this morning. I think it is Tigger. We'll go with that! I've followed Tigger since his appearing in the yard with his mother in our first year here, 2010.
We don't have any other large bucks that we've seen, and Tigger really was comfortable with us when he was a fawn. There are a couple of younger, smaller ones, but he walks about as if he owns the place!

2010

He'd bound up in the yard, the others hovering in the forest behind him. We called him Tigger since he bounced with glee!

2011

I captured him with his wee antler buds the 2nd summer. I surprised him on Ollie's Lot. He was nonplussed. It had to be Tigger!

Our cat, Ollie, and I would go forest walkies in the meadow. As Tigger got older, and didn't hang out with mom anymore, he'd follow me an' Ollie on our forest walks, his brother tailing behind in the forest. I could hear his brother, but he kept his distance.

2012

Then, he'd hang out with the females in our winter yard. I presume he was with his litter mates, aunts and mom. This is unusual, since the males and females don't hang out together in their winter yards. They end up in gender-segregated groups once the rut is over and the frolicking is done!

2013

Next, we'd see him with his bro, having lost one antler.

2016

In August, I came across our boy, again. His antlers were growing nicely.

November
Much to my surprise, I peeked out the front door Nov. 24th and saw him. I prepared the camera, and flicked on the spotlight. He didn't get spooked. Ambled over to the bird bath, and ambled off like he owned the place.

This morning, hubby was eating his breakfast staring out the kitchen window, and there he was.

This is great. How has he escaped the hunters with his friendliness?

He's not really 'friendly', as a buck, Anvilcloud. He is cautious and wary. He never shows up if there is another car in the driveway. If I opened the door, he'd bolt.
He is wise! They usually only live 3 - 5 years in busy spots!
The neighbours hunt, for sure, but he goes deep in the forest. The neighbours on the other side of our property have a sugar bush and do not hunt. That's where he headed off, into the gully, near the barred owl nest from the summer!

This is a superb story over the years, and so lovely to see all those photos. A very sensible boy/young man, who knows where he is safe. Love your pics today. Keep warm.

If we get to know individual animals we find out that they are as unique as every human and should be recognizable.
