Sunset walkies

Sunday's buck
The world has been turned on its end. Many of my close friends, including myself, have either sworn off Facebook, or 'unfriended' a certain number of people who exhibit a lack of knowledge and information of Syria's refugees, and are blatant in their racist comments, ignorance, and attitudes after the incidents in France.

Then there are the strangers, ignorant fools, who target Hindus. This is where stupidity is the active pursuit of ignorance. Targeting, harassing, beating a young Muslim mother, born and raised in Toronto, as a terrorist. Others alter images to portray honest Canadians as Da'ish, or Daesh. It is loathsome. I listen to the news, and then turn it off. It weighs heavily on our minds.

It cannot influence my volunteer work. I sit, twice a week, with two respite clients in hospice. Everyone has a struggle of some sort. I must be cheerful with these women, and entertain them with my self-deprecating stories.

My refuge?
Our lovely deer in the forest. Our trio has been hanging around. Mama and twins. The one twin always lags behind, hustling to keep up with momma! I just saw them cross the highway, following more gunfire in the forest. The dolts driving 130km/hr. along the highway, as Bambi tries to find greener grass, need to be vigilant. The buck who stopped here was a delight on Sunday.

A neighbour has some grazing beef cattle, big beautiful black angus, who moo in the fields day and night

I learned a new word from my remaining Facebook friends, nemophilist.
"One who is fond of forests or forest scenery; a haunter of the woods."

Daisy and I went walkies at sunset. We had to get out of the house. I love the shapes of the trees. We walked around the frog pond. She loves tree climbing! She'll go way up, as in the first photo.

Violence is all too easy for some, cowardly. I despair when I hear about it, but then I come here and see your photos. They are very soothing.

I was happy to get out for a walk in the forest yesterday- now that the shooters have left. There are lots of deer on my road and my neighbours pasture. They know where to hide.

I too have cut a lot of people off my Facebook over these issues. People I've been friends with my entire life, relatives, former co-workers. I just can't take their attitude. How could we have grown up together or worked together in harmony for years? It frightens me that these racist attitudes seem to be so widespread among people I thought I knew. People who shared my values.

Beautiful shots!

I've generally taken to avoiding Facebook news sites. The racism's become too much, and Facebook does absolutely nothing when one reports the worst of them.

Sometimes life gets too sad, violence, terrorists, gunfire, death, and it is hard to find a way to be apart from all this, and remain happy and cheerful. Keep on, Jenn, you are the one bright light in many people's day, those in hospice specially.Walk in the woods, enjoy the days of calm there, and rejoice in your friends who remain constant. Hugs from a cool NZ morning. ( 2 C).

Our sense of being "nice" is in many places less than skin deep. We're not as good as we think we are.

I'm not on Facebook. Anyway, I think I wouldn't be able to 'unfriend' someone because of his views. When I find out one thinks differently, I usually debate.

I have great regard for your volunteering work. That's the redeeming side of life.

Lovely shots! The woods are my refuge too from the madness of the world. How can so many people show such a lack of compassion?

More love and less hate - how hard can it be?
