TV Movie: Journey of My Heart

Journey of my Heart, AKA Love on the Wing of Eagles (2021). I'm not sure why the name change, but it was a surprise, this movie.

Hallmark is doing a better, more inclusive job. A Dene land acknowledgement is in the early dialogue of the film. Dene live from B.C. to Alaska.

The hero, Abbey Morgan (a wildlife biologist), travels to Alaska wilderness. She's a bit disingenuous, as she is only a theoretical biologist, and has never camped or hiked, it appears.

Ray G. Thunderchild plays Jacko Thomas. He provides First Nations teachings as he explains part of his culture. There is much First Nations education embedded in the film.

The scenery is amazing. They must have bought film footage from a wildlife photographer.

Movie: Christmas Festival of Ice

As I work out in the morning, I can watch news, talk shows, or W Network movies. Since the three news networks I watch (CBCNN, CTVNN, CNN) will all cover one US press conference, I often resort to the chick flicks. Currently, they are sappy Christmas movies!
Christmas Festival of Ice (2017) (TV Movie)
This one, I realized, was filmed in near-by Almonte. I recognized the scenery. In fact, I've been taking photos of the hydro plant refurbishment for a couple of years!
There are several places that we frequent.

L. G. and Sons store. (Mr. Lee, of Lee Valley, died recently.) They filmed in his lovely new store.

El Postino's cafe is in the building in the background, a former post office!

TV Movie: Til Death Us Do Part

Til Death Us Do Part (2014)

I have fun tracking them. Good for those rainy days and cool nights!
This was a creepy one, which highlights the truth of domestic violence. It is insidious and perpetrators groom their victims in very subtle ways.
I would recommend this one, for sure. Filmed in B.C. I watched it Thursday, April 21.
The plot is simple: a woman with a heart defect marries a creepy doctor after only a short engagement. The sister-in-law is the weirdo, who is involved in renos on their new house, as well as working on the gardens. Kinda strange.
Our poor victim tries to save some evidence on a memory stick, having hacked into her husband's computer, but it didn't seem to upload. I'd have gone to other means, like sending myself an email of the data.

Some of the details are somewhat jarring,  i.e.,the creepy, goth sister-in-law. Sometimes I get sickened by the actions of, for example, police who ignore or assuage victims. The script was a bit iffy. This film perpetuates victims as mindless, the police as insipid. While many of these films purport to take place in the USA, with different laws, I'd have submitted it to someone for verification and authenticity. We have come a long way in Canada in protecting victims of domestic violence, and preventing them coming to harm. These cops were horribly rude and ineffectual.
