The saga of the wood

I've stacked some new wood. This is what I have stacked so far. I moved most of the smaller stuff.

This was a bit much. It needed to be split. My newest wood pile was waiting to be stacked. A friend offered to help, but Joe was worried the two of us couldn't handle it. The logs were big.

The Aussie came and split it for me on Thursday, Nov. 14th. They'd moved it to the shed Nov. 13.

I'm whittling away at it... 😏 This I stacked while he was splitting it.

This was Thursday afternoon.

A beautiful day to be outdoors.

I went back at it Friday morning, but took breaks, and photos. But first I found the heavy metal wheelbarrow wobbly.

Note To Self: check your equipment. The tire was flat. Hah!

Joe was out walking, and brought me some water. He cannot lift the wood. I'm happier if he doesn't. He has terrible back issues. He certainly helped my dad stack wood back in the day in Muskoka.

The dead elms were hosts to termites. This is amazing.

We had termites in Muskoka. They are creepy little things, and strong!

After some time I realized I should brought me a chair from the house.  Then I really looked around... DUH! It is both decorative and useful.

I kept at it. Progress Friday afternoon! We decided to go out to Merrickville for lunch. It was Joe's birthday. (More on that later!) I needed the break.

The moon rose over the wood pile. I couldn't manage a decent photo. I couldn't remember the settings, nor find them. You get the picture, though. We bloggers are nothing if not imaginative!

Another look at bug patterns. Very interesting. (Joe said to take breaks!)

Saturday I kept at it, and we are done!

November skies

November is a month for great skies.

This sunset put an orange glow on everything.

But so did the sunrise! I tried a panoramic photo, but the roof got in the way. Bear in mind I was in my jammies and housecoat, and it was -4 ℃!

My pile of logs!

Too big to move. Aussie sent a couple of men to move the pile.

Some good-sized pieces I stacked in the shed. The rest will be split.

🐸 Moving the froggies: Total = 152!
It is difficult to fathom, a few days ago I fished the last frogs out of the pond. I missed a larger green frog (twice), and I feel badly. Nov. 11th, it was 11 ℃, and I moved 4 more.

Nov. 13th: morning and afternoon↓. The pond kept its shiff of ice all day. Go to sleep, my pretties. See you in the spring.

Hope

Quarterly, Joe has to have a PSA test since his prostate cancer surgery in 2014. He went in Nov. 6th, brought his hand warmer. He pointed out that he always needs a butterfly clip, which is used on his hand to get a vein. If they don't have a clip, it often takes two or three arms to get it. We're at 6's and 9's, but it is a distraction. The PSA test has to be redone. I think the lab mishandled the blood sample (hemolyzed sample). They didn’t have a butterfly clip available, which is needed for him. 🤬 This is what happens without a good blood drawer, and a butterfly clip. I'll keep you posted.

🐇This is really all I captured of the cottontail! I took a screenshot of her. The camera is too slow for a bunny!

Cinnamon has slowed down totally. Cool days and nights for my snugglepuss.

The fishies are happy indoors.

Frosty is ready for Remembrance Day!

I tried the log splitter, and it still works for the dry stuff! It didn't budge the wet log. We are in business.

As we walk along the path, we step on meadow vole piles. They took umbrage, and redug the hole.

I am making progress, stacking the smaller stuff.

We must have exogenous hope! The sun will rise. The clouds will part. We have to help one another get through these trying times.
