Critters galore

I hope you are well in these trying times. We're doing the best we can.

We've had lovely Facetime with grandies.

UPDATES:
1. The laxatone seems to be working for Meggie. No more throw-ups. She's on her probiotics, too.
2. Facebook consensus is that our nesting box raider was a weasel. It is light enough to climb a nearby tree, skitter along a small branch, and leap over. I shall have to do some trimming. It left 6 intact eggs. That's the sort of thing a weasel would do! If I'd known, I could have popped them into the other nest.

Some people are getting antsy. The angry debates are still raging, with cottagers being told to stay home. Cottage country just hasn't geared up for tourists. Stores aren't staffed with the high season. Our infrastructure isn't robust.

People are getting out and about, even in closed parks in Muskoka! I took this photo off of a Facebook post.

There was a warning about an alligator. In Toronto!
(P.S. It turned out to be a beaver!)

And another giggle from Canadian politics. MacKay is running for the leadership of the Conservative Party of Canada.  Coyne is a well-known journalist.

It is a beautiful time of year, springtime. I peeked out the basement door and saw her on the nest. She didn't appear the rest of the day. It is a high traffic area.

I started the goldfish pond pump. This month the goldfish will go outdoors. I've lost two recently.

A lovely bumblebee!

The first clump, daffodils. The second one hides some tulips. It's a race to see if the deer find them amongst the daffies.

The flicker continues to hang around. The dead elm seems OK!

The wetland is greening up!

Meantime, the pond is hopping.

It must be nesting in the deal elm again! (The one I wrote a poem about: Ode to an elm.)

As I approached the frog pond, the wood ducks decided I was dangerous.

These two young 'uns were busy in the backyard.

NaPoWriMo Day 25 – Anaphora

Prompt
Anaphora is a literary term for the practice of repeating certain words or phrases at the beginning of multiple clauses or, in the case of a poem, multiple lines. The phrase “A time to,” as used in the third Chapter of Ecclesiastes, is a good example of anaphora.

I take a deep breath, beginning anew...
Glorious time of year as garden wakes
I've spent hours using rakes
Creating sanctuary birds return
Twitterpated, I do discern

I take a deep breath, beginning anew...
Chickadees flutter, preen and cajole
Fluttering above the grassy knoll
Surprises daily in my inherited garden
My skills the plants they duly pardon

Painted Lady, flowers
I take a deep breath, beginning anew...
Successes better a list to keep
For past mistakes I've buried deep
Each trial and error and tribulation
Do not require cogitation

I take a deep breath, beginning anew...
As Phoebe begins their ritual yearly
Females taken cavalierly
Daffodils their heads they raise
Springtime's here, we all do praise
