Aug. 19th – we went for a drive

Well, goodbye summer! We woke to 13 C. this morning. We went for a drive on Sunday. This was a drive we'd done in the spring, and spotted swans and geese! It's nearly time for the kidlets to go back to school. The weather will help.
I am feeling a bit more even-keeled, thank you all. We had a lovely day yesterday. Our kids are coming from Vancouver for Christmas. That will be fun! It's something to look forward to.

I love this pond. If you cannot live beside a lake, a pond is excellent.

This is what it looked like in spring!

This is a lovely spot, Canoe Lake.

There were quite a few trailers, with lots of boats.

This place is still for sale!

People had been on the water all day, and were just calling it a day. It was late afternoon. We were here in spring!

Something was going on: a convoy of four OPP, lights flashing, followed by a single one.

Around the World

Aug. 23
The kids were having a wonderful time in Kyoto. They had a tour guide, and her trainee, take them around. They paid for their entrance into various locales, but they were volunteers!
They found an excellent family restaurant. They had dinner there twice!

There appears to be TWO typhoons affecting the kids. They asked the airline, from their hotel in Narita, and they said 'we'll see'!

Day Trip Sat., Apr. 7th Perth => Canoe Lake Rd. part 1

How about a drive?
Sure, where to?
This was the plan! It wasn't the final trek.

I liked the trip along Canoe Lake Rd., and Desert Lake Rd. The is recommended by someone in our volunteer office.

The plan was to have lunch, after our loop, in Westport.

Topsy Farms hat on my head, we were on our way!

10:53 a.m. – 2 hours, 10 minutes

Off we went. It was a lovely day. Outside it was -1 C., but the sun has the strength to warm the car.
Unfortunately, after an hour of driving, and cold air on my legs, I FINALLY realized that the air conditioner had come on, and I should turn off the heating system!

Can you see the black cow in the creek? Seriously...

Westport

Westport, Canoe Lake Rd., to Desert Lake Rd.

Canoe Lake Rd.

Cottages are not open yet, that will likely happen on the May long weekend. The ice makes it really cold.

I love how the road hugs the lake.

This woman, I think, had just gotten her pond pump going!

You can see how the melt water melts the lake water as it flows in through the culverts.

Forest Farm, Wintergreen Studio, nestled into the forest.

I asked JB to turn around, as I missed this little truck cab in the forest. Barely visible!

This was interesting. Two signs. It looks like they tried to sell their 95 acres themselves (Property Guys) then went with an agent. There is one sign two many, though. It is lakefront, so I was curious its price. I couldn't find either listing.

The roads were getting fudgy in the sunshine.

The houses are quite different, and reflect a variety of price points.

These are photos for Rock Girl! My daughter, with her M.Sc. in Hydrogeology.

There are lots of resorts. This is Snug Harbour Resort.

Soon, we landed in Hartington, and met some birds. Finally! That is my next post.
