It is Poison Oak, not poison ivy. I misspoke.
This entire area used to be covered in it. This is the path down to the meadow. I pulled up the vines, and sprayed some. That was a challenge. It took me years to get rid of it. Apparently I did not get it all. Those vines have been spreading. I got mad and ran over it with the lawn tractor one year. Rookie mistake! It blew up and through the engine in the air onto my chest. SIGH.
This was 2011, we moved in in 2010.
Last week I got rid of a poison oak boil. I figured out where I'd gotten it from. Thursday it rained and I couldn't spray. Friday, I decided to poison the poison oak. Saturday, it was shrivelling. I won!
I am about 3/4 the way through the canister. I use it judiciously, boots and gloves.
I found a little Monarch caterpillar on one of Fred's milkweed in the garden. Apparently he likes it. I moved caterpigly to another plant.

...poison ivy has popped in in our garden this year. What a pain.
Ivy or oak. In the end it doesn't matter -- they're both miserable!
I got poison something when I was a kid. They thought it was poison oak.
Maybe you need a hazmat suit to play with the poison oak. Some people break out just walking by it. Be careful. Linda in Kansas
I'm glad that your boil is gone.
Oh wow, your arm is totally rashed up. I'd use a little poison too. I don't like using it, but sometimes it is called for.
Poison oak sounds very nasty, especially as it gives you boils! I do hope your poisoning programme against the poison kak is sucessful!
Cute caterpillar. never heard of poison oak before.
Oh ouch. That looks painful and itchy.
Caterpigly...lol
We don't have poison oak here and it looks like we're lucky we don't have it.
Ouch! Yes, it looks very painful, Jenn!
Your photos are beautiful.
Love the cute caterpillar and your flowers.
The poison oak looks painful.
Take care, enjoy your day and the new week ahead.
Ouch ouch. Poison Ivy or Oak is nasty and mowing through the stuff sounds like something I would have done while peeved at it. I know it spreads that oils though!
I don up gear like you when spraying. I don't like spraying or weed whacking but they sure seem to be necessary things.
