It's been a busy week. Into Ottawa to see the doctor, yes, MaryG, we must have been near one another! They are marathons with traffic, and construction.
The flowers cheer me! I mowed a path so that Joe could pick up has daily walks. These are Devil's Paintbrush, my mother used to call them. They are delightful, a yellow carpet.
The yellow ones bloom first.
Next, it'll be the orangey red ones.
Dame's Violet are doing well. I transplanted some, and they thrive.
This photo is supposed to be showing my Itoh peony. You cannot really see it, the yellow in the lower middle of the shot.
You can see the growth between 2025 (above) and 2021 (below)! I am doing something right!

I chose not to grab a new photos this year. The bugs are awful and I didn't want to get in there.
Of course, the Fred family are thriving. There is one kit bolder than the other. I saw him at the shed (burrow #2), while the sibling was with Momma under the deck (burrow #3).
While I was looking forward to the kits, they sure keep us all busy.
Then, at the shed doing 'bear!' They have to be vigilant. They are fairly safe here, since we don't normally see coyotes in the day time. Mind you, we've had a busy week.
Now, this might be silly, but they were under the deck, burrow #3. There was a lot of squealing. I think Fred is letting the little ones know that the dairy bar is closed!

So that's Goatsbeard! I have a beautiful lithograph -- "Rocks and Goatsbeard" but it is somewhat impressionistic and I wasn't sure what the goatsbeard was -- the foliage, the yellow, whatever! It looks lovely at Crumbly Acres!
We’re all of us rural, Valley people in Ottawa this week?
We call the yellow Hawkweed and the red, Devils Paintbrush. Love your yellow peony. Mine are covered in buds. This cool weather has them slow to go.
The cute little sound they make is so sweet....Beautiful flowers in your area...Happy Friday the 13th
Your flower photos were just what I needed to see today.
How quickly the little ones grow.
Your peony is beautiful! Nice colors. Maybe the Freds could eat the bugs...
Hello,
I love all the wildflowers, they are all a pretty sight to see.
Take care, enjoy your day and have a great weekend.

Weaning is the tough love time! YAM xx
I love your meadow of flowers, how lovely!
Beautiful photos, Jenn. I enjoyed the videos as well, the Freds are cute. I got to hear their squeals as well. Thank you 😊 so much for sharing this ❤️
Beautiful flowers. The orange Devil's Paintbrush look like the Fox and Cubs that I have in my garden, they spread very easily.
Those squeals are very loud! When will they be big enough to go off on their own?
Fred's kids sure are keeping you busy.
Lovely flowers.
We hear the coyotes most nights, especially in late summer and early fall when, from the sound, the pack is teaching the young ones to hunt. I think that because I hear soprano yips among the adult calls. Luckily, we do not get them close to the house. They took down a deer on the back hundred last winter, though. Natural behaviour, but ... yuck. What we do have, although no little Freds, is a very young fawn with momma on the edge of the mowed part of the field. He/she (can't stand 'they') is happy and jumping about and occasionally nibbling at something green. You could almost see the thought process - Mom likes this stuff, so what is it, anyway?
Loving your garden and the Fredettes.
The Freds still monopolize the story.
You have some incredibly gorgeous flowers in your yard.
