Wetland Walkies

I've been stressed, anxious and shaky. Such is the life of someone with anxiety. Getting the sink in and done was a relief. It was amazing how difficult it was for me. Gone are the days of being union president, on committees, professional development. My life is shrinking, from necessity. I'm bent but not broken. JB has been amazing. Very supportive.

Monday I have to do some excessive cleaning in the bathroom. I shall see you on the other side of that and photos will come. It's a good day to do indoor work. They are giving wind warnings out east.

In the meantime, my special place. I do love my walkies. We noticed a pine tree that lost a lot of branches in the forest. The debris from the last rain/ice/snow storm was awful. Broken, not bent.

I noticed lots of evidence of animals, very few animals in real life! Thankfully. I am loud and talk to Cinnamon.
Coyote, raccoon, maybe owl and deer!

On our walk I found a HUGE owl pellet. It is twice as long as the ones I normally find. I shall dry it and see what it has been eating. The white stuff, above, is owl poop, but it regurgitates fur and bone and undigestible material. It doesn't smell, the pellet, and give lots of clues.
Cinnamon loves the trees:

Look up, waaaay up. You can see the damage to the trees. They've lost their tops in wind and snow. There are more that will grow in their place.

I moved the few branches last damaged in the storm. I'll cut them up sometime.

Our our squirrels are busy, eating pine cone seeds. They have a little pile around the forest.

I like the wetland in the background.

This is looking across the wetland to our island in the wetland. There are fallen branches and Cinnamon wanted to go out there, he knows the drill, but it was too wet.

Mama and twins show up.

I don't know how I used to do what I used to do either. I'm enjoying retirement.
We had a big Father's Day windstorm last year and the woods are full of windowmakers high up. Gotta keep an eye on them when one goes hiking.

I went geocaching yesterday and found a cache that hasn't been found since March of last year. It was an ammo box on its side and something had pooped on it. The poop was full of seeds, grass, and small sticks. Interesting. Maybe a coyote or something.

There is so much food readily available in the bush right now! The finches won't even come to my feeders, though the spruce trees are full of them chittering away. I'm not too ambitious about filling the bird feeders until the snow does come, just enough now and then that they know there IS a feeder.

Yes, trees all seem to protect each other, and their canopy only goes so far up, before wind/storms seem to do a pruning for them. When I see a tallish tree standing above all the others, I know it won't be there for long...at least that tall. Loved seeing your deer friends (cracked corn?) and your casual outfit in nighttime feed. Victorias Secret eat your heart out!

Jenn I'm really sorry to hear that your anxiety is rising. I also have anxiety & panic attacks - not fun at all & worse is trying to describe what it feels like to people that haven't experienced. Thankfully JB is supportive & understanding. Sometimes those wonderful adventures you have in your own woodland are the best anti anxiety medication, IMO. Sending you lots of good wishes for the holiday season, hope, peace, joy & love ...

Sill cold at 5C, those deer come quite quickly once you walk away, they certainly know where the goodies are. Stress, trees are a very good help with that, even the branches swaying in the wind, I miss our acre of trees that we grandly called " The Forest", many times walked there and felt healing. Not from stress but sad times and loss of a cat or person.

I am so glad that the sink is in and done. And am constantly amazed, impressed and awed at just how much you do.

The one thing that sooths my soul/anxiety is going out in nature. I'm glad you have so much of it around you. It always looks glorious! I agree with Elephant Child!

Believe you. I know myself how bad anxiety can be. Mine is worst in the morning. I admire you and how you handle. Carry on my dear friend. Aloha!

By bending, we survive the storms. Keep enjoying your little paradise. I am sure that it helps to keep you sane.

I don't get out much by choice but do enjoy the occasional outing as long as it's during the daytime and not crowded. I'm grateful my like allows for that kind of flexibility.

I love wooded areas but never walk in wetlands. Your area gives you great access to wildlife. I look forward to hearing what that owl has been eating.
