Three cheers for democracy!

After the Emergency Act was put in force during the Ottawa protests last year, the government appointed a commission to prepare a report to determine if they were right to do so. The conclusions came out last week (PDF). Of course they were right to do so. Downtown Ottawa residents were tortured mentally and still experience PTSD.

You can see the huge crowd 😏 on the Parliament Hills webcam. This weekend, Feb. 18/19.

It's been a year since the chaos. They were out on Parliament Hill protesting again. The crazies are on Social Media, as well. This includes our former MPP.

We live in a very free country.

This is what they did on the Family Day long weekend:

These hooligans continue to insist that lots have died from the vaccine, which is what got our MPP in trouble, posting images of people he claimed succumbed to the vaccine. Family members attacked him for this, saying a) he was wrong, and b) they did not have permission to use their late family member's faces.

I had an lecture about this from my new client. I didn't think it worth debating. He insisted that you just have to Google it and you will find this fact out: that people have died from having the vax. Oh my.

This dude  filmed the recent protests (@truckdriverpleb)and posted the weekend excitement on Twitter. Ottawa residents counter protested.

They really don't make any sense, they want to be free to get rid of the duly elected government. They are still trying to demand the government resigns. Isn't that what they do in dictatorships? Isn't that what Putin is doing in 🇺🇦 Ukraine?

I am amazed at the ignorance of these Canadians. I decided to buy t-shirts from Saint Javelin, who are using the money to help Ukraine. I know how fortunate I am to live in Canada. We aren't perfect, but I prefer a democracy.

On the back:  Слава Україні! Героям слава!
Slava Ukraini! - Heroiam Slava!

Glory to Ukraine! Glory to the heroes!

I saw one or two of them today. Expected trouble around the Winterlude sculptures on Sparks since it's so close, but nothing.

Hillier is a vile thug who will only do the world any good when he's no longer in it.

We have plenty of similar idiots on this side of the border too I'm afraid.

Oh noooo.... You've got those right wing, crazy conservative, Trump loving type people in Canada too??? Darn! I always thought you were much better than us.

I can not understand how these losers think they don't have freedom. They wouldn't recognize freedom where ever it is.

Cognitive Bias. People look for and accept information that supports what they already want to believe in.

Confirmation bias is perhaps the more apt term.

Been catching up with your blog. Some very interesting posts. Glad you had a visit with family. I haven't been out to check the birdhouses due to problems with walking, especially on the slippery ground. After numerous years of a birdhouse viewed from the living room window, some bully starlings have tried to enlarge the hole, so will need to get a replacement front piece made before nesting season.

Sorry I am late visiting. I've had company since Friday and they are now on their way back to California.

Some of those statistics were frightening. Not for YOU, but for the U.S. I was amazed at how low on the lists we were.

Utah is trying to pass a law that any doctor in the state who tries to give a Covid vaccine will go to jail. I couldn't believe it.

Glad you bought those tees for Ukraine. They are lovely.

Here's to democracy! Those photos are a horrible reminder of just a year ago.

During the pandemic when restrictions were in place, never once did I feel my rights as a Canadian citizen were not in place. I do feel social decency is under threat from all this fragile bitter divisiveness online. No one knows how to use their natural super power of the ability to scroll by something you don't like or agree with.

Like the t-shirts.

The whole world seems to be under siege from these horrible right-wingnuts. Frightening. We just have to keep trying.

I feel like we infected y'all somehow. It's such a shame where we've ended up.
