TV Movie: Journey of My Heart

Journey of my Heart, AKA Love on the Wing of Eagles (2021). I'm not sure why the name change, but it was a surprise, this movie.

Hallmark is doing a better, more inclusive job. A Dene land acknowledgement is in the early dialogue of the film. Dene live from B.C. to Alaska.

The hero, Abbey Morgan (a wildlife biologist), travels to Alaska wilderness. She's a bit disingenuous, as she is only a theoretical biologist, and has never camped or hiked, it appears.

Ray G. Thunderchild plays Jacko Thomas. He provides First Nations teachings as he explains part of his culture. There is much First Nations education embedded in the film.

The scenery is amazing. They must have bought film footage from a wildlife photographer.

Not my sort of film, but that's just me.

I love your header photo, by the way.

Looks like this is the type of movie that I like. But it's not available on Netflix or Amazon Prime. I will have to wait.

Talking of First Nation, two months back I watched a movie called Cold. It's directed by Emily Diana Ruth. I watched it on Kanopy, but it's available on Amazon as well. It's about the killing of First Nation women.

It's the story of a 16-year-old woman's pursuit to find the truth of her mother's death.

I like that Hallmark is finally being more inclusive.

I understand that there are some distant language connections between the Dene and the Navajo.
