It's tricky, birding! Those of us living with snow know how difficult it is to photograph something in the snow. Also, I have trouble focusing. Period. You'll get the gist, however.
We had a big storm Sunday afternoon into Sunday night. Monday, Nov. 23rd we had a red-wing blackbird. They should have flown by now.
Female cardinal in bombing position.I did see a Downy Woodpecker take a crack at a chickadee. The woodpecker had feathers on her beak after the incident, which pissed her off! She kept whacking her beak on the feeder.
A wee downy.
It was easier photographing them in the tree.
Lift off!

...we may be seeing this midweek!
When you have a lot of snow in the frame (mostly a snow scene) you usually have to overexposed a bit.
Hello,
Nice variety of birds and photos. The Cardinals look so colorful in the snow. Take care, enjoy your day! Have a happy new week!
That splash of red, beautiful, and so many you identified. Love the scenes, it all looks very peaceful and beautiful.Enjoy your day. We had a brilliant red sky for a few minutes, so maybe the saying will eventuate. Glad I'm not a shepherd!!!
I think that you did well!
It's interesting that your cardinal looks just like the cardinals in Hawaii. I remember blue jays being very aggressive in Illinois.
You have some very good birding in your yard.
It looks like winter, Jenn. For something difficult, I think you did well, especially with the cardinal taking off.
I like those two bright pictures of the male Cardinals.
I would have guessed that you photographed a Hairy Woodpecker by the length of the beak.
Oh I love this round up of your bird visitors, just about all that's visiting us these days. You got some great captures there. I had two mourning doves at the feeders this morning which is odd for here. The weather is odd too now with lots of rain in the forecast.
