COVID–19 Test

It wasn't easy. JB has had sniffles for weeks. He is worried about this, as his treatment plan is pretty inviolable. This has been the routine since 2017. His surgery was in 2014. He needs to have the injection at the GP's office. You'll recall that his last injection was in the GP's parking lot, in a snowstorm, with the injection given by the nurse in PPE gear.

His plan was to get a COVID–19 test, to rule out that. That process took 4 or 5 phone calls, as the extension number they gave, and where we both left messages, did not yield a test.

They gave me the number of the health unit itself. I spoke to someone who said she'd pass this on to a colleague, who would phone directly for an appointment with me. Said colleague returned the call. I gave her the same info. She called them, then called me back with an appointment.

The online results gave us a negative. He was phoned with the results, as well.

His nose, and post-nasal drip, are giving him a sore throat. He wanted to see the GP. The pharmacist first suggested gargling with salt water, a tried and true option for throat infections. I don't think it is allergies, just a simple virus.

So, he phoned the GP to ask to have his throat looked at. They have the negative report for his COVID–19 test, so they know he is good. Our clinic has a new policy: they aren't seeing ANY patients with any cold symptoms. They said to go to the ER. The next trip to the pharmacist was when they suggested anti-histamines.

Friday afternoon, June 13, JB elected to go to the ER to have his throat looked at. He's been gargling with salt water, as the pharmacist suggested. Nothing has worked. He went to the ER, showed them his negative COVID–19 test, and after signing in with administration, seeing the triage nurse, and signing a paper promising to pay any extra costs (?), the doctor gave him some meds.

...sounds like a run-a-round.

Jenn lifelabs has an auto check in app you might try next time. Happy to hear good results.

I think it is time for doctors to see their patients. My dentist is back in business, and that is much more problematic than most doctor visits.

what a run around. I am still waiting for my second appt. with the ENT specialist about my chronic running and bleeding nose.

Why is it that people who are under stress have to go through such horrendous waits. There are too many hoops to jump through.

Thank goodness he doesn’t have COVID-19 though.

Salt water is good for nose problems. For a sore throat, though, I squeeze a lemon and drink its undiluted juice. It works.
Wishing JB all the best!
