Long Sault, part 2

[Trip to Long Sault, part 1]

We knew I ought to get out of the house. Part of depression is not wanting to socialize. We made it for lunch at Nautica Grill by 1 p.m. Then we would amble slowly back home through the park. The sister-in-law of the owner is an artist, and we bought some cards from them. She gave a painting to the Royal Couple, she told us.

The restaurant was decorated by Susie Mouroukas art. Here is an example.

My favourite, angel hair pasta. Lots of grilled veggies, too. We could not sit outside and the wasps are merciless in looking for food. I was beside the screened window, which was perfect. We could look at the St. Lawrence River.

Long Sault Parkway, Gillian GPS knows the road we are on, but doesn't show it! It's a lovely park, but the beach was closed. I wanted to dip my toes in the water. The bridge connects all these islands, and there is a camping spot along here.

This is a park, but it was pretty much closed for the season. We talked about getting a day pass, to be legal, but there were no people on duty!

From the bridge, JB spotted a heron. Turning around, we found a road that ended in the water. It's not a road for a boat launch. It's all very mysterious.

Not a great photos (above) here are some from my archives.

They were a bit far away... you can see how low the water is right now.

Back on the road...a great day for biking.

Onward we went wending our way along the water, then north to home.

Getting out and about is good for mental health.

One of the old flooded highways perhaps?

Looks like a beautiful day out, Jenn. I just love that piece of art! I am going to have to travel around those pieces of land on my computer just to learn more about those beautiful places.

I also have to fight the wish to be a hermit.

That's what I thought, Karen!

I could be a hermit so easily. Love the pics from along the way, I do enjoy seeing all your countryside and waterways. Paddle your feet? Too cold here yet.

I would also have thought of the flooded conditions when the seaway came into being. Some villages disappeared forever.

You could do a book on your car drives. Look for some groups where you have to interact with people. We have one guy in our skating group. we have to keep reminding him to come and skate. He has fun when he's there. Join my bird group.

I'm so glad the rain and cooler weather has sent our wasps away. The little brown bats are still here though. I hear them leave from under our roof each night and sometimes I'm away early enough for them to come home. - Margy
