Home birding

One can travel thousands of kilometres, or just bird in the front yard! We spent our travel budget going to Vancouver and kidlets!Calgary and Lake Louise.
You can see how the horse chestnuts are growing. The leaves are shriveling up, though. We had 1.5 mm rain yesterday, which is better than nothing!

This little sparrow has been hanging about. A lot. I finally figured out why.

The sparrows have raised a brood. They are flying around feeding them. Sadly, Annabelle found one on the ground. I rescued it. I found another in a tree. I put them together, but she got one of them. I feel badly. All things considered, they haven't gotten many.

The cedar waxwings have been popping by. For good reason! The honeysuckle has done well.

Peekaboo! I sat under a tree branch, trying to capture them. Of course, it knew I was there. Daisy was with me, too!

And on the deck, a hummer!

In the tree, beside the garage.

This is a good story. The beginning of the video show JB arriving home after dispatching and delivering Meals on Wheels. As he pulled up, I happened to be on the front porch. He called me over. In front of him, quite a few turkeys, two females, one in front, the other pulling the rear. They just happened to be on the trailcam in the meadow, as well!
Can you count them? I had trouble the dashcam isn't very good.

Earlier this summer I was in my car when I saw something strange crossing the road. As I got closer I realized it was a turkey with a whole line of fluff ball babies marching across the highway. Fortunately there was no other traffic and they made it safely. I had never seen the babies before even though we would often see turkeys in the field behind the house out in the country. The grass was too high to see any babies.

Too many to count, what a sight, and to get it on the dash cam. Birds, sometimes the little ones fall out down here too, and I try to save them. Sadly, a cat who is SO well fed with have that inner instinct.

You two live in a natural Paradise -- you really don't need to go anywhere at all to see amazing birds and critters! But I am glad you get to travel occasionally too.
