I like reading Twitter some days. Usually they are people preaching to the choir, however.
There was a fire in Niagara-on-the-Lake, caused by a car's exhaust setting the grass on fire.
.@Town_of_NOTL Operations Department has been working through the night to ensure that run-off from yesterday’s fire is contained. We would like to thank @NiagRegPolice and @NiagaraEMS for their incredible support yesterday! Lots of fires across Ontario. |
We only have a partial fire ban... as we are on the south east edge of the red.
What is it like in your neck of the woods?

It is getting very dry. We don't have much lawn and what we do have can go yellow. We'll keep tending to the plants and even the trees a little bit.

As the UK has been sweltering under an Aussie sun, there have been wildfires here too - on heathland and currently in a Northern Scottish forest... climate craziness. YAM xx
Here in Ireland we have a hose ban until the end of the month. You can use a watering can to water plants and that is about it. Last week there were a couple of huge fires south of us and it took some time to get them contained.
We desperately need rain.
There is a major fire burning along the road to the cottage we rent in the summer. I was talking to the owner this morning. No one from the MNR had been in to see them. No notice to evacuate as of this morning. She told me her husband figured the fire was about 8 acres this morning. According to the map it is now 200+ acres and NOT in control. I sure hope they have beat the feet out of there.
