On the road, again: soccer game

We went to The Cove for dinner, in order to get to Portland for Caitlin's 19:30 soccer game on June 5th.

A raccoon ran across the road. It was a dreary few days.

It was quite the game. Our girls had to drive out from Ottawa (75 minutes for some) to get to the game.

The bugs were AWFUL, with the rain. It was a damp day.
The opposing team, it was their home field in Portland, was a young, tough group of young women (the league is an adult one), who liked to use elbows. There were some issues, several injuries on our side. They were shameless, as the score upped itself to 5 - 1, still elbows flew, there was a fake fall, too.

A lot of our Jazz team is made up of women in their 30s, who are used to a recreational league.

We brought oranges, just like the good, old days. Caitlin has been playing soccer since she was a youngster.

I see Caitlin there, very active, and one lady being helped off the field, and then the floodlights.Cut up oranges, I remember them from primary school sports days. Did you stay the night?

I did a Google distance calculator, and see it was about 30 minutes driving!!! I forget that just sometimes it isn't so far to go in Canada, my mind always thinks of huge distances everywhere.

A lovely collection of photographs. I used to play a lot of sport in my younger days and can well remember the slices of orange at half-time, so welcome.

Great to see your smiling faces in the mix of photo's too.

All the best Jan

Playing from daylight into evening- the game must have gone long.

It was a longer drive than that, Jean! We went to Westport for dinner, first!
When it began to rain softly, we couldn't leave. The girls needed our support...

They played from 7:30 - and do two 45-minute halves, with a break in between. It was a great field, with lights and all.

I sat beside a man from Portland at Roney's office in Smiths Falls the other day. He did not elbow me. Just thought I would share that. :)
