We visited this display as part of a Pow Wow.
Part of this includes listening to the histories of Missing Murdered Indigenous Women. At the Pow Wow June 10/11th, there was a somber display about the MMIW, with photos, and stories.
Part of the horror, is the blankets that the government gave to First Nations, infected by Small Pox to reduce the population of Native Peoples.

Respect for the earth is one of the lessons of First Nations. Respect for the land. Respect for other nations. I tell the story my gramma told, about getting lost in the forest on their farm in Quebec, when natives would rescue her. My family tree - life in the bush.

Deliberate infection? I never knew this.
Looks very interesting.
that's very moving - we need to not forget
Doctor Bryce came up during part of my tour of the Wabano Centre for Doors Open. He was ahead of his time in the way he thought about First Nations people- unfortunately those ahead of their time are so often ignored.
A very thoughtful post Jenn :D)
We have much to learn from aboriginal cultures.
I like your attitude; learning and understanding the other is very important. I don't believe the story about deliberate infection, but birth rate was and will always be a big issue which has to be dealt with openly.
love the natives outfits :)
Such a thoughtful post and these words "Respect for the earth is one of the lessons of First Nations. Respect for the land. Respect for other nations"
We still have a lot to learn ...
All the best Jan
@Duta writes, " I don't believe the story about deliberate infection,"
It is documented by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, as well as by Dr. Bryce in 1907. You can read more here.
