April
The finches have been active. The female are hard to ID without their mates nearby! You'll notice how dark it is. It's been a bit dull, with flooding and lots of rain. We are high and dry atop a hill in the wetland. Ozzie Love, who chose the land and built the house where he wanted to retire, made a good choice!
May arrives and the rose-breasted grosbeak arrived, as well.
Meanwhile, on the frog pond
You'll notice the female wood duck has a limp. She's happily going after the cracked corn, though.
Watch the male preventing the other males from getting near his partner!

Oh I do love your birdies! Had a delight here the other evening... had a nightingale calling out as the sun set!!! (no where the Fudge's lens could see it thoug...) YAM xx
They look so ungainly when they dip their heads below the water for a snack!
Regarding your comment from the post the other day, if you're going to the General Hospital campus sometime, Life Of Pie and Stella Luna are just a few blocks up the street from Bank & Riverside, before you reach Sunnyside Avenue. They're close together, kitty corner across the street from each other.
Spring brings you many attractive visitors.
Lovely shots Jenn!
We saw a rose breasted grosbeak at Wheelers yesterday. We were sitting by the window, and it stayed at the feeder for quite a long time. First time I recall seeing one -- at least that closely for that long.
Lovely set of photos, going to be interesting to see how the eggs progress.
All the best, Gordon.
The colors on the rose-breasted grosbeak are so striking. Gorgeous photos, Jenn.
Hello Jen, awesome birds and sightings. I missed my Grosbeaks moving thru. Love the videos and wood ducks. I was away for two weeks and I am so sorry to be late commenting and visiting your post. Thank you so much for linking up and sharing your post. Happy Sunday, enjoy your day and new week ahead!
