What is Lake Effect Snow?

Another incident!
In Halifax she was fined $180!
A 37-year-old woman has been ticketed after driving what Halifax police have described as a 'moving snowbank.'

This is what it looks like on the ground. Brussels, west of Toronto, north of Mississauga, gets its fair share.  Dorks! An update states the man is 80 years old!

"He is charged under the Highway Traffic Act with having an obstructed view. He gave him a ticket and warning. Then, the officer cleared the rest of the snow from the man's car and let him on his way."

Parry Sound, Dec. 2011
This guy was fined $110.

Lake Effect Snow is a real thing. This is what it looks like on the radar, having seen what it looks like on cars.
December, 2015

The prevailing winds and Alberta clippers, and/or the jet stream, picks up lake water. The Great Lakes, with our mild December, aren't frozen.

That is a whole lot of snow, and it's dangerous when you don't clear off your cars.

Quite a few of our neighbors here in our RV Resort are winter snowbirds from your area and the States that border the great Lakes, so I hear a lot about the Lake Effect. I admire your stamina -- I don't think I could stand it.

As an elderly driver myself, I have to say I totally think it is terrible that your police let that guy go on his way after clearing off the window. Good grief, when we don't know any better than to do that, I think they should take our licenses. Heavenly days. (Who knows how I'll feel in five years though, when I am 80. I hope I know enough to stop when I need to.).

It scares me when I see people driving without clearing the snow off their cars. It's sooooo dangerous!

Unbelievable that people would drive with that much snow on a car. There must be no marbles at all.
