Gull on the deck of Annie's Cafe in Bala |
I have a few from my archives. See below.
These, following, they were hanging out at Slys Lock, along with the geese.
Now, good ole Red will ask which kind. Once a teacher, always a teacher.
The ones with the rings around their bills, I think, are ring-billed. Wouldn't that make sense?!
We also have Terns.
It was a nice challenge to try and capture them in flight. You can tell the juveniles, with the spots!
Here are my archives.

I like gulls. They do tend to cluster in some places though (aside from McDonalds and the like). We notice them on docks when out fishing. For the most part, we have very few around here and they're fun to watch. Very nice pics.. especially the one in flight.
Pretty series of gull shots! I think the gulls can be one of the hardest bird to id. Enjoy your day!
Nice gallery! Yup, I have a real love-hate relationship with Canada Geese and I'm sure if I lived on the Coast I'd have the same with the gulls. But like you we don't see them all the time, so I always enjoy when we do.
Jenn you have inspired me to paint seagulls. Is it ok if I derive some work from you photos? I'll credit you!
Terrific shots! I actually like them- they're real characters.
You nailed the ring bills. Terns are interesting to watch and can be pretty mean little beggars.

Oh lovely! I am a fan of gulls. Have to be given that is pretty much the feathered stock round here! YAM xx
I don't like the mess they leave, but they are fun to watch. Once in a while a few will make it up the lake as far as our cabin. They like to ride on floating logs, much like canoeists. When I was still working for the school district, we had to roof in an atrium at one of the elementary schools. The gulls just wouldn't leave it alone. There were so many droppings that the nice outdoor space next to the library couldn't be used at all. It wasn't as nice enclosed, but it was useable. - Margy
