NaPoWriMo Day #18 word salad

Word salad

words are like salad
you make your choices
you choose a word like embarassment over appreciate
which drenches your dish and overpowers the relationship
there is a balance between seasoning
your salad droops and drowns

you choose a word like dreadful over delightful
and your salad, like your life, becomes depressing
your life is here to taste fully
to appreciate each flavour
to laud the colours and the mix of textures
instead you drown in cucumbers
and baby carrots, soaked in bleach, poison your mind
thrown like logs on the fire
bruising the lettuce like your feelings
you wilt

onions meant to enhance the sharp taste
bite and destroy the symmetry of flavours
sour grapes that render a tasty dish unpalatable
give up and walk away
you are the better for it
begin anew
fresh ingredients
a new recipe for success
