Big trip to Carleton Place!

We had a mission. The wool shop and the CCWG Livestock store (est. 1918(. The leather smells were amazing. They sell bird seed, as well.

This was the purpose of our trip:

I quite like this building. It's very old. This is the equestrian store. Look at the old walls and beams!

For lunch, we went to St. James Gate Pub. We took the grandies there Grandsitting PD Day April 15th, 2016.

It was dumping rain. I hopped out at the light and snagged a table while Joe parked the car. It was very noisy, so he took out his hearing aids. They can amp up the sound unbearably. We could barely hear one another. He ended up swinging his chair around to sit beside me so we could hear one another.

The food was good, I had leftovers.

I took a panoramic photo of the mural (Shaun McGinnis – 2008) on 61 Bridge St. with my phone. It didn't quite take, it is a straight wall. If you biggify it, you can see a creepy man in a window. Carleton Place has a lot of murals.

People have their Hallowe'en decorations up.

The new off-leash dog park outside Perth. It seems really busy. It's a great idea to put in a fence. There is an on-leash path around the property, as well. The old barn building was removed after they fell down. The swallows were out of luck! The old stone farm house was dismantled and rebuilt elsewhere, I believe.

Out and about

We had an horrific boating incident that took place on Bobs Lake on the May long weekend. Finally, after extensive investigation they have charged a drunk boat driver. His arrogant posts on FB demonstrate a lack of respect for people living on the water. Neighbours on the small lake, with many small inlets, has speed laws they say he flaunted all the time on his cigarette boat.

I have a story for you, but I have to set it up. I found some debris on the highway on Monday garbage day, 2 weeks ago.

This is where Joe found a deer carcass. I couldn't figure out why the vultures and crows were circling so often. The carcass was half gone, and the critters have been working on it.

This is the view out the back deck, looking towards the highway where the deer lies. It's been there about a week.

Out the bathroom window is where I can see best.

Our bedroom is 55 m away from the spot. I was lying in bed reading when I heard the coyotes. It sounded so close! Leaping up, and looking out the back yard, I realized what it was. Cinnamon was standing in the hallway, looking out towards the door in utter horror!

🎃 Aster and I texted on Sunday, they'd been working on their pumpkins. Papa posted photos for the family. Mama, Papa, Aster and Jo's pumpkins in that order below!

Jesse tested me a photo from Vancouver. Cluny and Bryony were good to go for Hallowe'en! Raccoon Burglar and Puss in Boots!

Happy Hallowe'en!

Cinnamon was happy to get warm on top of Percy's fish tank. We had snow Monday morning, it was chilly, damp and cold.

I had to get dressed and put out the garbage Monday morning in the snow.

🎃 Having spent many years in education, and having had 3 kids, I've done my time doing Hallowe'en. Being rural, we don't have any little kids around us, anyway. Frosty's Great Pumpkin costume is worn out and faded, but I have photos!

We have modest decorations. Bear is doing well with his orange toque and ...

I live vicariously through the kids. Caitlin created a fabulous costume! You have to know Ottawa to understand it. They replaced the Percy St. bridge, and highway #417 was closed for days. It crosses the city and people had to detour.

Pumpkin carving was on tap on the weekend. They put down newspapers to protect the new kitchen! I have to harvest some pumpkins seeds. Maybe when it warms up. It is -4 C. this morning.

On the way to school and work.

In the meantime, our Vancouver family had a celebration!

I created a Hallowe'en puzzle. You can visit it here.

Hallowe'en across the country!

It's not a celebration for the faint of heart. Our families, our 4 granddaughters, really got into it.

I must admit that conspiracy theories abound with famous people amplifying the craziness.

🎃Hallowe'en in Ottawa

They bought pumpkins on the weekend and, after homework, carved them. Jos' has braces, just like hers!

Isabelle was a broken doll. Grampa thought that was nearly as scary as a 🤡 clown! The make-up was terrific.
Josephine:

Hallowe'en with friends! We’re a crime scene: I’m an escaped arsonist, S. is a detective, E. is the caution tape, and V. is the blood! I’m getting handcuffed!

(I blurred Jos' gr. 10 friends' faces, as I don't have permission to post them.)
Jos sent me a photo of her loot!

 🎃Hallowe'en in Vancouver!

Our Vancouver grandies live in a tight-knit co-op community. It's a great, safe place to Trick-or-treat.
Putting on make-up is more a challenge of having them sit still enough at their application – rather than skills of their parents. However, if both your parents are trained actors, and your mom does a lot of design work, you are home free!

Such fun! I taught for 25 years, and had Hallowe'en up to my eye balls.
