Dinner out and beach days

We'd had a bit of a day. The doctor has prescribed a new inhaler. It seems to be working. He isn't wheezing as much. I am convinced it is a coronavirus (CoV) giving him bronchitis. It is not COVID–19, nor Omicron. He's had it 6 months now.

Joseph Brian suggested dinner out. Checking the oncoming storm, with tornado warnings, it looked as if we were good to go.

We pulled out of the driveway, and were behind an OPP SUV. This guy decided we were going too slow and passed us. I hope he'd speed up to the cops. I warned the driver that he'd have to stop at the one way traffic at the bridge repairs.  We ended up having to turn left into the parking lot, as he watched us drive by.

Well, favourite table, again.

Arriving at 4 p.m. for dinner is perfect. There were lots of birds, few tourists. A Vulture, Kingfisher, and an Osprey. The kingfisher zoomed by twice, but I missed it twice. The Osprey circled around behind the tree, and I missed it, too! It was so funny. The vulture cooperated.

This is silly in the water, a DANGER WORK AHEAD sign. It's been there at least a month.

It was hazy, and warm, but there was a breeze. The sailboat was lovely to see.

It seemed to be the day for doggies, happily boating.

Tons of geese:

I wonder why these boats need such big motors. They obviously troll in them. It doesn't look like the boat would support them, and I am sure they make smaller-sized motors with as much power. Hmmm.

These are popular in the region. The nearby lakes are terribly shallow, and this is the way to go!

The sailboating done for the day!

Another le boat, sailing into the dock. Well, beside the dock!

On the way home we checked out the beach. Lots of geese. We'll have the girls in August, and I'm sure they'll want to go! The Rideau Valley Conservation Authority (RVCA) have Gary the Gator protecting the beach from the poopy geese. It's been an interesting experiment! They have to move him, and Mackie the Coyote, around to dissuade the geese.

Only a few swimmers. They've wrapped the trees to limit the LDD caterpillars, but they seem to have died off, happily.

Travelers in Chania

While we dined out, Caitlin posted photos of their dining out! They walked along the beach, barefoot, to the restaurant. How cool is that?! The food has been amazing. The REAL Greek salad has been a hit.

They ate lunch on the hotel balcony, just for a break.

There have been wonderful beach days. They wear long-sleeved shirts that block the harmful sun's rays.

They posted a photo of their last sunset in Chania.

Last night, they travelled by plane from Chania to Athens, and are waiting to go back to Istanbul. From there they fly right on to Amsterdam.

Cancer treatment trip PART LXXXV

Short story. We made it in to the city for our cancer treatment. I stayed with the car at the park. Home and safe, no incidents.

8:15 – we mounted up, sweaters and sunglasses on until it warmed up from the sunshine. It is harvest season, and lots of fields are good to go. The traffic was fine until we hit the city. I pulled over to let cars pass. They were hell bent to get into work, I suppose.

There was lots of reconstruction.

This represents the big mansions outside Manotick. They are quite something.

9:50 – I dropped JB off at the hospital entrance. In the park, I sent a selfie to Caitlin to let her know we made it to the city. It was a perfect day in terms of weather.

There were a fair number of birds to watch while I waited for JB to phone me to say he was done. Last time I was here, I noticed a hawk zip by. I didn't see one this time, but I was prepared. Gulls, crows, a pair of sparrows. And I heard catbird across the street. The zoom wasn't bad, but the birds were far away. They are too fast for me to use a tripod, not that I brought one.

There were berries, showing the end of season.

One monarch butterfly flitted by.

This dude was a bit worrisome. He had large headphones on, which was good, as he was yelling at people on his phone. There was a johnny-on-the-spot, which he visited. Not a bad place for an outdoor office, I guess.

Then, there were dogs! This one, dog #1 seemed to be waiting.

This was cute. You can see dog #1 was quite keen on talking to dog #2.

Lots of dog walkers... some walking through the park, others parked, waiting for loved ones inside the hospital for appointments.

11:30 a.m. – The Experimental Farm fields. We used to spend many an hour here when the kids were young. There was a museum, and critters to visit. While we circled the city to arrive in the morning, Smiths Falls, North Gower, Manotick, crossing the river, we when straight across the city, since rush hour was done.

We visited with Caitlin on our way home. We haven't been there in ages, what with the girls being with us so much since COVID (35 weeks between March 2020 and August 2021). I love their new solarium. The girls were in school, while Caitlin and JL continue to work from home. We left to let Caitlin get back to work.

12:09 p.m. – On the way home, JB popped into this store for a sports magazine he couldn't find in Perth.

We were 10 days away from the Sept. 20th election.

1:45 p.m. – we made it home. I had the hangries, as I'd only had a piece of toast for breakfast.

I found this out on Twitter once home, and my feet up. These are the stairs I brought JB down after his surgery in 2014. We walked by for treatments, preCOVID. Who knew @JustinTrudeau was at the other end of the building? PM Trudeau visited the other end of the hospital while JB was there.

🐻SNUGGLE Bears

Also, at home, this is why JB went into the city store. To get the Sports Illustrated Football edition. The bears are anxious for the new season to begin!
